Born two decades ago from the needs of hardy British surfers, Finisterre creates enduring outdoor wear for an inspired life in and around the ocean. Proudly B Corp certified, we have committed to a deep belief: to make truly exceptional products in a more responsible and transparent way. Whether based at our cliff top headquarters in St. Agnes, Cornwall, or in one of our retail locations across the UK, Finisterre is a truly unique brand and career proposition.
Perched a few hundred meters from the crashing Atlantic, our HQ at St. Agnes’ Wheal Kitty Workshops is at the heart of our brand. Here we stay true to our original design ethos of functionality and sustainability brought to life in an understated style and identity, always remaining committed to product, environment, and people.
As we enter the next exciting stage of global growth, we are on the lookout for talented individuals to join our crew. So, if you are as passionate about the ocean as we are and if you want to be part of a truly authentic, purpose-led brand and you share our vision to create exceptional products in a responsible way, then we would love to hear from you.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for an Operations & Logistics Manager to own the day-to-day running of Finisterre’s UK and international logistics operation – from the moment goods leave our suppliers, through freight and customs, into our 3PL, and out to our customers, stores and wholesale partners.
You’ll hold operational and performance accountability for our 3PL relationship, inbound freight and customs execution, and company-wide stock accuracy. Working closely with our buying, merchandising, finance and channel teams, you’ll keep product moving on time and on budget, hold our logistics partners to high standards, and help us reduce the environmental impact of how we move our products around the world.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all aspects of inbound logistics, from FOB supplier handover through freight forwarders to 3PL receipt, optimising routes, carriers and consolidation to reduce freight costs and transit times.
- Own relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers and outbound carriers, holding them to agreed KPIs and SLAs and reviewing rates against the market ahead of renewals.
- Manage day-to-day customs compliance, including accurate classification, valuation and documentation, and identify opportunities to optimise duties and tariffs.
- Review freight quotes and expected duty against the range plan, and own the accuracy of goods-in-transit, commodity and HS code data in our systems.
- Manage the day-to-day relationship and performance of our 3PL partner across inbound, outbound, returns and stock accuracy, including capacity planning for seasonal peaks and launches.
- Deliver outbound ecommerce, store and wholesale fulfilment to agreed SLAs, working with channel heads to manage forecast volumes.
- Own stock accuracy across our 3PL and retail portfolio – including the count calendar, variance investigation and agreeing adjustments with Finance.
- Act as the escalation point for day-to-day operational and logistics issues, lead the weekly stakeholder meeting and own the review cycle for our SOPs.
- Produce regular reporting on supplier compliance, “delivered & received” status, freight costs, 3PL and carrier performance.
- Own environmental impact reporting for our logistics, including carbon footprint and container utilisation, and drive initiatives to reduce it.
- Input into inbound, operational and outbound budgets and manage delivery against them, escalating variances to the Head of Operations & Logistics.
- Monitor international supply chain risks and disruptions, proactively managing contingencies to protect service levels.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO FINISTERRE
- Proven experience in an operations or logistics management role, ideally within a multi-channel retail or apparel business.
- Hands-on experience managing a 3PL relationship, including SLAs, KPIs and performance reviews.
- A strong working knowledge of international freight and UK import/export customs – classification, valuation and documentation.
- Experience owning stock accuracy processes, including counts, variance investigation and adjustments.
- Confidence managing suppliers and carriers, with strong negotiation skills and a commercial eye for cost and service.
- Highly analytical and comfortable with systems and data – able to produce clear, accurate reporting for a range of stakeholders.
- A logistics or supply chain qualification (e.g. CILT) would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- A genuine interest in reducing the environmental impact of supply chain logistics.
- Passion, energy and aspiration in line with Finisterre values, products, brand and customers.
- Excellent self-awareness, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Thrives on positive change and able to manage self and others under pressure.
