About Us

FireHydrant is the only full-cycle incident management platform that drives reliability. It replaces siloed knowledge, disparate tools, and homegrown processes with a fully automated, customizable platform, enabling teams to efficiently and consistently respond to incidents—and, most importantly, learn from them. That’s why the world’s most innovative engineering teams, including Spotify, Snyk, and 1Password, choose FireHydrant to build and scale their incident management programs.

Backed by Menlo Ventures, Work-Bench, Harmony Partners, and Salesforce Ventures, we’re building the future of reliability from remote offices across the U.S. Join us.

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the FireHydrant team, you will design, build, and maintain the server-side of our web application. You will collaborate closely with peers on the Engineering team as well as partners in Product, Design, and customer-facing teams. Our product engineering teams focus on driving product quality through an iterative approach, ensuring we continue to develop as an API-first, enterprise-ready Incident Management and Alerting tool.

What You'll Do

  • Build new features and maintain our existing application to enhance the incident response and alerting experience for engineers.
  • Actively participate in Engineering ceremonies, code reviews, product walkthroughs, and customer feedback sessions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with customer-facing teams to understand end-user problems, anticipate edge cases, and translate criteria into simple, well-designed solutions that address customer needs.
  • Respond to critical production escalations as part of a shared on-call rotation—our systems need to be working when our customers’ systems aren’t.
  • Champion engineering best practices and quality within your team and across the organization, including teaching, learning, and supporting cross-departmental engineering questions.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of backend software development experience, building production-level applications in Go, Ruby on Rails, and/or React.
  • A proven track record of delivering projects on time as part of a team in a remote or hybrid setting.
  • A self-starter who thrives on tackling challenging problems and consistently delivers results on time.
  • A passion for quality—you care about writing maintainable code and leaving things better than you found them.
  • Deep curiosity—you are customer-focused and eager to learn about our product space and end users.
  • A proactive communicator—you take initiative to solve problems without being asked.
