Role Overview:
We're seeking a Data Governance Specialist to join our team supporting public health analytics initiatives. This role is crucial in establishing and maintaining data governance frameworks that enable effective public health decision-making. The ideal candidate will bridge technical expertise with public health domain knowledge to ensure data quality, accessibility, and compliance across our projects.

Salary: 75,000 per year (including fully paid health insurance premiums for you+ your family, life insurance, short term disability)


Our ideal candidate will have worked in a local, tribal, or state health department. 

Experience Required:
• 3-5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related field
• At least 2 years of experience working in governmental public health (local, state, federal)
• Background in public health data systems and analytics

Key Responsibilities:

Data Standards and Policy Management


• Develop and implement data governance frameworks aligned with public health needs
• Establish and maintain data quality standards and metrics
• Create and enforce data policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with public health data regulations and standards
• Document and maintain data governance processes

Data Quality and Metadata Management
• Monitor and improve data quality across systems
• Develop and maintain metadata standards
• Create and manage data dictionaries and catalogs
• Oversee data lineage documentation
• Implement data validation rules and processes

Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work closely with epidemiologists and data stewards
• Partner with IT teams on technical implementations
• Engage with public health program managers
• Facilitate cross-functional data initiatives
• Support data governance training and education

Analytics Support
• Ensure data accessibility for analytics teams
• Guide standardization of analytical processes
• Establish clear data definitions for reporting
• Develop best practices for data usage
• Support data-driven decision making

Required Skills:
• Strong understanding of public health data systems
• Experience with data governance frameworks and tools
• Knowledge of data quality management principles
• Excellence in stakeholder management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proven communication and facilitation skills

Preferred Skills:
• Experience with public health surveillance systems
• Knowledge of HIPAA and public health data regulations
• Familiarity with data modeling and metadata management
• Experience with data visualization tools
