Position Summary

The Senior Cloud Database Administrator will play a critical role in owning our Cloud-based Database ecosystems. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will partner with other technology leaders, including Developers and IT/Cybersecurity Engineers, to define and implement strategies and technologies used to modernize, secure, and maintain databases in our NextGen Cloud Platform. A major focus will be on improving database security and scalability, and ensuring that database management best practices are defined and enforced. Additionally, you will partner with the Development team to ensure data access mechanisms are optimized for performance and security. 

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based database solutions on AWS and Azure. 
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required. 
  • Ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and regulations. 
  • Perform database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning. 
  • Optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues. 
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database schemas, queries, and stored procedures. 
  • Automate routine database tasks using scripting and cloud-native tools. 
  • Provide support for database-related issues and incidents. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud database technologies and best practices. 

Requirements: (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)     

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on cloud environments. 
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure database services (e.g., RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora, Azure SQL Database). 
  • Proficiency in SQL and database management. 
  • Experience with cloud DB cost analysis and optimization. 
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization. 
  • Familiarity with database security best practices. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Database - Specialty or Azure Database Administrator Associate certification. 
  • Experience with automation tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. 
  • Migration tools such as Grate or Redgate. 
  • Knowledge of other cloud platforms and services. 

Benefits

  • This is a full-time position, salary range $110k-$140k, based on experience
