About the role
We’re looking for a QA Lead who will own and evolve our mobile test automation, release strategy, and overall quality culture. This is a high-impact role that will help us get to a world where daily production releases are not just possible, but expected. You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and design to make sure our features ship fast and ship right.
You’ll start with one direct report and play a hands-on role in setting up the systems, tools, and processes that support high-quality, high-velocity mobile development. This is a great fit for someone who’s led QA teams before, loves building strong foundations, and is excited to grow a small but mighty QA function.
What you will do
Drive release cadence
- Architect, implement, and own the processes and tooling that enable daily production releases with confidence and speed.
- Define, enforce, and continually optimize release management best practices across engineering teams.
- Build the habits and systems that support daily deploys.
Own automation strategy
- Build and maintain a scalable, reliable test automation framework across end-to-end (E2E), regression and smoke testing.
- Identify gaps in current test coverage and lead the effort to close them using automation wherever feasible.
Champion quality from start to finish
- Define and implement quality gates throughout the SDLC to ensure production readiness at every stage.
- Lead root cause analysis for incidents and introduce automated testing to prevent regressions.
- Champion testability as a core engineering principle.
Collaborate across teams
- Work closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to define acceptance criteria and QA practices early in the development process.
- Bring a risk-based mindset to help teams balance speed and confidence.
- Make sure we’re all aligned on what good looks like.
Make quality visible
- Establish and report on quality metrics (e.g., test coverage, flakiness, release velocity, defect escape rate) to drive continuous improvement.
- Set up alerting, dashboards, and CI/CD integrations to give real-time visibility into release health.
Who you are
- You’ve got 5 or more years of experience in QA or quality engineering
- You’ve led QA teams or owned QA strategy for at least 2 of those years
- You’ve tested cross-platform mobile apps built with React Native or Expo across both iOS and Android
- Proven success in enabling high-frequency deployments (daily or more) in fast-paced product environments.
- You know how to build and scale test automation using tools like Maestro, Detox or Appium
- You can write test cases in TypeScript and are comfortable working in a React Native codebase
- You understand how modern CI/CD pipelines work
- Familiar with test management tools and practices to ensure clear documentation, traceability, and coverage
- Strong understanding of release management, blue-green/canary deployments, and feature flagging.
- Excels in ambiguity and is proactive about identifying blockers and driving solutions.
- You’re proactive, thoughtful, and comfortable in fast-moving environments
Nice to Haves
- Experience in FinTech, crypto, or regulated environments.
- Knowledge of performance, load, or security testing tools.
- Familiarity with tools like PostHog.
