Position Overview:

Folklore is looking for a Senior Frontend Experience Developer who blends top-tier technical skills with a passion for design collaboration. You’ll play a critical role in transforming bold, thoughtful design concepts into fast, accessible, and visually stunning web experiences. More than just writing code, this role is about partnering with designers to ensure every interaction, animation, and layout detail shines in production.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the frontend development of responsive, high-performance user interfaces.
  • Collaborate closely with designers and backend developers to turn ideas into production ready code.
  • Work with modern frontend frameworks to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Optimize every pixel for speed, accessibility, and usability across devices.
  • Architect frontend systems and reinforce coding best practices for the team.
  • Ensure design fidelity by translating complex UI/UX requirements into clean, reusable components.
  • Drive code quality through automated testing, linting, and documentation standards.
  • Define technical direction for frontend projects and advocate for best-in-class solutions.
  • Provide feedback in design reviews, helping shape concepts that balance creative ambition with technical feasibility.

What You Bring:

  • 7+ years of professional frontend development experience.
  • Expertise in HTML5, CSS3 (SASS/SCSS), and JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Deep experience with a modern frontend framework (React/Next.js).
  • Deep experience with CSS frameworks (Bootstrap and/or Tailwind preferred).
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and performance optimization.
  • Skilled with Git, modern build tools, and collaborative workflows.
  • Experience with scoping, estimation, and technical decision making.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and provide clear solutions quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience contributing to or extending design systems.
  • Track record of projects where design collaboration directly drove success.
  • Advanced React and/or Next.js experience.
  • Background in building progressive web apps (PWAs).
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (Contentful, Craft CMS, etc.).
  • Experience integrating CI/CD pipelines and automated testing into frontend workflows.
  • Proven track record of leading frontend development from concept to deployment.

The pay range for this role is:

110,000 - 130,000 USD per year (St. Louis Park)
