About the role

We are seeking a Technical Product Data Manager with specific technical writing and graphics generation experience for DoD MIL-STD-40051 technical manual conformance. In support of Sustainment Operations this position will help build and maintain a library of technical data for every Forterra part, across all platforms both commercial and defense.  

 

The Product Technical Data Manger will generate, standardize, update, and manage a library of technical data packages which may include vector line art, product data sheets, provisioning and logistics data, sustainment bills of material, manufacturing procedures, inspection procedures, depot-level repair procedures and illustrated parts breakdowns. Product Data will be consumed by the Technical Manuals team, internal/external manufacturing, quality inspection, logistics (provisioning data), and internal/external Product Repair.  

 

The Technical Product Data Manager may also matrix as needed into direct support augmenting the Technical Manuals team for source data generation. 


What you'll do

The Product Technical Data Manager is responsible to the Director of Sustainment Operations as a key member of the Sustainment team. The Product Technical Data Manager is responsible for generating high-quality product data for all field-replaceable BOM items, with activities and data generation in support of provisioning, logistics, technical manual and field support activities.  

 

Responsibilities support multiple internal functions. Priorities may shift with short notice to support internal teams with urgent mission support or other tight deadlines.  

 

Activities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Creation of technical data for all configuration-managed parts to include part specification, provisioning and shipping data, safety data sheets, HAZDECS, weights & dimensions, PHS&T data, etc. 
  • Creation of illustrations, diagrams and other visual media supporting each part. Compilation of a company-searchable library on Share Point  
  • Creation of exportable digital data file for each configuration-managed part to include all relevant technical data and illustrations for consumption by supported company functions 
  • Creation of specified vector line art (from CAD source) to support DoD-conformant (MIL-STD-40051) technical manuals, in direct support of the Technical Publications team 
  • Creation of detailed internal-use instructions supporting manufacturing, system integration, inspection, and repair 
  • Matrixed support the Technical Publications team to create source data for part Remove and Replace procedures, Fault Isolation procedures, and other technical manual source data as needed 

Qualifications

  • Ability to hold a DoD Secret clearance 
  • Respectful team player and an effective communicator. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, including Illustrator. 
  • Experience with a parts & configuration management data system (Arena, Windchill) 
  • 4+ years of relevant experience (commercial industry, Government or military) 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DoD program office technical manual processes, DoD field-level maintenance, and/or OEMs or depot-level sustainment programs 
  • Ninja skills with Illustrator or other vector line art programs 
  • Experience implementing and adjusting XML files, structures, style guides 
  • Familiarity with ERP logistics systems (NetSuite, Sales Force FS), and MS Office 
  • Familiarity with XML generation editing. 



US Salary Range
 $125,000—$155,000/annually
 

The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package.
