About the role

We are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will design, analyze, and develop mechanical systems that enable autonomous vehicles to navigate and perform in diverse environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability.


What you'll do

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems for autonomous vehicles
  • Perform simulations and analyses to validate designs under varying load and environments conditions/requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during the design, prototyping, and production phases.
  • Create detailed documentation, including specifications, CAD models, and test reports.
  • Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to integrate mechanical systems with autonomous technologies.
  • Participate in hands-on testing and field trials, gathering data to inform design iterations and improvements.
  • Address any mechanical issues that arise during prototyping, production, and field deployment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with designing electric, hydraulic and pneumatic actuation systems
  • Experience in mechatronics or electrical principles
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo or similar).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, cross functional team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Experience with hand tools, and basics in prototype manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in FEA and CFD analysis
  • Experience in automotive or robotics industries
  • Experience with products that include both hardware and software elements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering.


US Salary Range
 $110,000—$140,000/year
 

The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package. In addition to base salary and equity, Forterra offers competitive benefits for full-time employees including:
