About the role

  • Forterra is actively looking for an experienced machine learning engineer to join our perception team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge perception solutions for autonomous systems working with heterogeneous sensors to tackle both structured on-road mobility and unstructured off-road mobility. The ideal candidate should possess a robust skill set, particularly in crafting high performance machine learning models and maintaining those models through real-world deployment life cycles. 

What you'll do

  • Work cross functionally to support the exploration and development of new state-of-the-art perception models
  • Support on-going model lifecycle developments
  • Maintain and improve our existing model training, testing and deployment infrastructure

Required Qualifications

  • Strong programming experience in Python
  • Experience developing modern machine learning algorithms for perception tasks 
  • Experience with developing and maintaining machine learning models in real world environments
  • Experience with containerization tools
  • Strong experience working on a software development team
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in cloud infrastructure and AWS in particular
  • Experience with NVIDIA Jetson family of devices
  • Experience with modern data workflow management frameworks like apache airflow, argo, or metaflow
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks like pytorch 
  • Experience in production robotics is a plus

Education
  • BS in computer science or a related field, or equivalent amount of relevant industry experience
  • 3+ years of industry experience

US Salary Range
 
 $115,000—$190,000 annually.

The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package. In addition to base salary and equity, Forterra offers competitive benefits for full-time employees including:
