a Chief Finance Officer (CFO) who will be a key member of the leadership team responsible for shaping the organization and ensuring the success of Forward Therapeutics. This role requires a strategic and highly efficient leader with extensive experience in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical industries. The incumbent will be an accomplished, entrepreneurial-minded finance executive with 10+ years of senior financial leadership experience in both private and public bio-pharma companies or a mix of experience that may also include investment banking and venture capital. Qualified candidates must have a demonstrated track record adding value to their organizations as the senior finance executive as evidenced by increased and sustained share value, significant strategic transactions, or similar accomplishments delivering value to investors/shareholders.  Of equal importance is experience managing the transition of one or more organizations as product candidates progress through the development cycle. Functional responsibilities will include oversight of all accounting, treasury, and finance functions. Candidates must be comfortable leading in a highly virtual setting and overseeing outsourced functions. The CFO will work closely with the CEO and other executive leaders to support the Company’s financing activities, including interactions with current and prospective investors and overseeing future private and public financings.


How You’ll Contribute to the Team…

  • Provide financial leadership and oversee the development of long-term financial strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives and scientific roadmap.
  • Partnering with the leadership team, secure funding through venture capital and/or public markets (IPOs) and manage the allocation of resources to ensure the company has the capital needed for R&D and clinical development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the development of commercialization strategies for the company’s drug candidates, including conducting market assessments, creating pricing strategies, and driving market access initiatives.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of operations, optimize the cost structure, and ensure that R&D spending is efficient.
  • Identify financial risks (e.g., liquidity, market, or operational risks) and ensure compliance with financial regulations, audit standards, and reporting requirements, reducing the company’s exposure to legal or regulatory issues.
  • Communicate financial performance, milestones, and future expectations to build investor confidence and attract long-term investment.
  • Execute organizational overhaul of the annual planning and budgeting processes, procedures, and software systems.
  • Establish and manage relationships with external business partners, including auditors, legal counsel, bankers, and other consultants.

What You Bring…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry with discovery to early clinical-stage development organizations.
  • Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in fundraising and partnership creation.
  • Proven track record of success in building organizations with a blend of entrepreneurial and larger company experience.
  • Expertise in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), partnerships, licensing deals, and collaborations to expand the company’s portfolio.
  • Experience working in companies with immunology focused therapies is desirable.
  • Demonstrated finance and leadership experience as it relates to the drug development process.
  • Robust financial and operational expertise.
  • Solid understanding of the processes and challenges involved in raising capital.
  • Demonstrated experience structuring and negotiating business and strategic alliances.
  • An honest and genuine individual with high ethical standards and excellent interpersonal skills, fostering a positive reputation with stakeholders and colleagues.
