What You’ll Do:

  • You’ll exceed assigned revenue goals by creating and executing against a plan that adheres to SmartSimple’s customer-centric sales methodology and whole-company approach to customer experience.
  • You’ll manage a complex, multi-platform solution sale with a 6-to-18-months purchasing cycle that begins with initial targeting of prospects and continues through transition to client services and support.
  • You’ll maintain an accurate pipeline with timely sales forecasts, proactive internal communication, and excellent documentation of activities and client commitments in the required systems (e.g. Salesforce).
  • You’ll cultivate prospects in a targeted, measurable way, adding to the pipeline on a consistent basis.
  • You’ll maintain relationships with current clients and influencers to encourage referrals and references.
  • You’ll focus on new business while continuing to cultivate and cross-sell into existing account relationships.
  • You’ll coordinate resources such as marketing collateral, quotes, RFPs, online demonstrations by subject matter experts, and engagement with other internal departments to meet prospects’ research needs.
  • You’ll be conversant in the specialized domain of grantmaking, within the traditional philanthropic sector, government granting, research funding, and/or corporate social responsibility. Develop a deep understanding of customer trends and key influencers in the assigned market.
  • You’ll excel in cross-departmental collaboration: Provide feedback to marketing on sales tools, product and service positioning, market intelligence, and campaigns. Work closely with customer services and support to facilitate a seamless customer experience. Maintain accurate, accessible documentation on client commitments. Cultivate good working relationships across the company.
  • You’ll take part in educational programs, webinars, conferences, and client events to build your expertise, and expand your personal network.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What You’ll Need:

  • 5-10 years of full-time B2B sales experience (software sales experience a plus).
  • A proven track record of consistent over-quota achievement within a solutions software vendor.
  • Exceptional customer service and the ability to understand customer needs and meet that need with a successful solution-based sale
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Alternative to sales experience: Strong knowledge of or experience in the philanthropic sector with desire to learn sales; experience in finance, account management, CRM, or donor management.
  • Proficient with corporate productivity and web presentation tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; Strong listening and presentation skills
  • Travel required within North America
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Additional assets would be:
    • Basic knowledge of ‘Software as a Service’ solutions (SAAS)
    • CRM experience
    • Experience selling in the foundation/philanthropic space
    • Experience being held to metrics
    • Experience in Corporate Social Responsibility, and/or Grantmaking in the Philanthropic, Government, and Research Funding verticals
