About the role

Under the direction of the Manager, Sourcing and Procurement, The Shipper & Receiver is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, and distributing materials to support manufacturing operations. The role maintains inventory accuracy, prepares outgoing shipments, operates material handling equipment, and follows all workplace health and safety requirements. Strong attention to detail, organization, and teamwork are essential.

What you'll do

• Receive incoming shipments and verify materials against packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documentation.

• Inspect incoming materials and products for accuracy, damage, shortages, and quality concerns, reporting discrepancies as required.

• Record received goods and inventory transactions accurately in inventory management and ERP systems.

• Label, organize, and store materials, supplies, and finished goods in designated warehouse and stockroom locations.

• Pick, package, stage, and prepare materials and products for shipment in accordance with company and customer requirements.

• Coordinate outgoing shipments, including preparing shipping documentation, bills of lading, packing slips, and courier paperwork.

• Load and unload trucks using appropriate material handling equipment and safe work practices.

• Perform inventory cycle counts and assist with periodic inventory audits to maintain accurate stock records.

• Supply materials and components to production departments in a timely manner to support manufacturing operations.

• Monitor inventory levels and communicate material shortages, stock discrepancies, and replenishment requirements to supervisors or purchasing personnel.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shipping, receiving, and stockroom environment.

• Record materials moved and inventory transactions accurately for inventory control and job tracking purposes.

• Assemble wooden crates according to product specifications.

• Measure, cut, and fit materials accurately to protect doors and frames during handling and transport.

• Inspect crates to ensure quality and stability.

• Installing door bottoms, glazing beads, preparing astragals

• Installing glass and window kits

• Work collaboratively and safely with colleagues in cross-functional roles and departments for related projects.

• Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience.

• Knowledge of shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.

• Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or stockroom environment.

• Experience operating material handling equipment.

• Experience maintaining inventory records and conducting inventory counts.

• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Experience with ERP or inventory systems; Sage and/or Misys is an asset.

• Experience driving forklifts and material movement machinery

• Experience reading and interpreting shipping documents and inventory records.

 Work Conditions

• Working in a manufacturing and warehouse environment daily. 

• Combination of standing, walking, lifting, and operating material handling equipment throughout the shift. 

• Ability to lift 23 kilograms (50 lbs). 

• Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and noise levels. 

• Must be able to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE). 

• Remain alert for extended periods, paying keen attention to detail and safety requirements.
