The Role

Ampersand Pilsen CZ s.r.o. (Ampersand Biomedicines, Inc.) is looking for a highly motivated, goal-driven and collaborative Research Associate to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to help drive the development of a rapidly growing early-stage science and technology company within a well-resourced environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our research and development efforts by applying their specialized knowledge in molecular biology and protein analysis.  The candidate will report to a highly experienced Scientist in the Molecular Biology & Antibody Engineering team and will enjoy working in a pioneering and fast-paced start-up environment. This is a full-time on-site, laboratory-based position in Plzeň, Czech Republic.

Key Responsibilities

• Molecular biology techniques – RT, PCR, gel electrophoresis, molecular cloning
• Microbiology techniques – E. coli transformation, bacterial culture
• Immunoassays – ELISA, BLI
• Antibody purification and characterization – affinity chromatography, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting
• Implementation and documentation of dedicated experiments according to detailed protocols and standard operating procedures as well as contribution to general maintenance of laboratories and equipment

Required Professional Experience & Qualifications

• Biological/medical assistant or BSc or MSc in biology, biochemistry or related field.
• Hand-on experience with molecular biology (PCR, cloning) is desired.
• Comfortable with high-throughput sample processing in a fast-paced environment.
• Meticulous attention to detail, good organizational skills, and strength in problem-solving.
• Aptitude and enthusiasm towards learning new techniques, improving upon existing processes, and understanding the “why” behind experimental protocols.
• Sense of responsibility regarding experimental work, the team and the mission of Ampersand
• Adaptivity to language requirements. Our team is international; written documents, such as experimental protocols and records, are kept in English.

Preferred Professional Experience & Qualifications

• Experience in immunoassays (ELISA, BLI), protein purification and characterization (affinity, SDS-PAGE, etc.) and handling bacterial cultures is a plus.
