THE ROLE
Catlin Gabel School is seeking an Extended Learning Assistant Director who finds joy in working with children and helping create the kind of after-school environment where students feel known, included, and excited to participate. This role combines hands-on program leadership, staff coaching, family partnership, and the daily problem-solving that makes a great extended-day program work.
Working closely with the Extended Learning Director, you will help lead Preschool-Grade 5 Extended Day and Day Camps, support enrichment classes and tutoring, and mentor the staff who work directly with students. You will also spend part of the school day supporting the Lower School front desk, creating a natural connection between students' school-day and after-school experiences. The ideal candidate is warm, highly organized, calm under pressure, and energized by both children and the adults who support them.

To be successful in this role, you will excel in these areas:
We are looking for someone with a bachelor's degree, preferably in education, early childhood, child development, recreation, or a related field, and at least one year of experience leading a school-age children's program. Experience supervising or mentoring staff is strongly preferred. Candidates must be able to qualify at least Step 9 in the Oregon Registry.
WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW
This is a full-time, 10-month position aligned with the school year, with a regular schedule of 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Approximately nine hours each week are spent supporting the Lower School front desk during the school day, with the remainder focused primarily on Extended Learning programming and operations.
The role is active and highly student-facing, with regular movement across our 67-acre wooded campus, including stairs and hills.
