About the Role

Column | Remote (U.S.-based) | Full-Time | $+ Equity

The Automated Affidavits Representative supports Column’s affidavit operations from generation through completion. This role monitors automated affidavit workflows, reviews and signs affidavits, resolves exceptions, and helps ensure our affidavit processes remain accurate, efficient, and compliant.

This person will also support affidavit compliance by researching state, jurisdiction, publication, signing, and notarization requirements and helping translate those requirements into clear processes, documentation, and workflow improvements.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor and manage automated affidavit workflows, including identifying and resolving affidavits that require manual review or action
  • Review affidavits for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Serve as an authorized affidavit signer on behalf of Column and support electronic notarization
  • Monitor changes to affidavit requirements and help determine their impact on existing processes, templates, and workflows
  • Identify potential compliance gaps or unclear requirements and escalate when additional legal or operational review is needed
  • Partner with internal teams to implement confirmed requirements into affidavit templates, processes, documentation, and automation
  • Manage affidavit queues and prioritize work based on deadlines, urgency, and service level expectations
  • Identify and resolve errors, missing information, workflow failures, and other exceptions that could delay affidavit completion
  • Identify recurring issues, manual work, and opportunities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, or automation of the affidavit process

  • Good judgment and the ability to determine when an issue can be resolved independently and when it should be escalated
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills
  • Comfortable learning and working across multiple systems and automated workflows
  • Comfortable serving as an authorized signer on behalf of Column
  • Reliable, adaptable, and able to maintain accuracy in a deadline driven environment

What Success Looks Like

You keep Column’s Automated Affidavits workflow moving while helping ensure the process remains accurate and compliant. You can independently manage day to day affidavit operations, identify and resolve exceptions, research compliance questions, and recognize opportunities to strengthen our processes and automation.

Your First 90 Days

First 30 Days: Learn the Workflow and Requirements

The first 30 days focus on understanding Column’s affidavit operations, signing responsibilities, systems, and compliance requirements.

You will:

  • Complete training on the Automated Affidavits workflow from generation through delivery
  • Learn Column’s affidavit signing and notarization procedures
  • Understand the different affidavit workflows and when manual intervention is required
  • Become familiar with existing state, jurisdiction, and publication specific requirements and compliance resources
  • Learn how affidavit exceptions and compliance questions are researched, documented, resolved, and escalated
  • Begin reviewing and signing affidavits with support as needed

By Day 30:

You can independently review and sign standard affidavits, navigate the Automated Affidavits workflow, recognize common processing and compliance issues, and know when additional research or escalation is needed.

Days 31 to 60: Own the Workflow and Support Compliance

During your second month, the focus shifts to independently managing daily affidavit responsibilities and contributing to compliance research.

You will:

  • Independently manage affidavit queues, signing responsibilities, and routine exceptions
  • Consistently complete work within established accuracy and service level expectations
  • Research and document affidavit requirements when questions arise
  • Identify discrepancies between confirmed requirements and existing workflows or templates
  • Keep compliance documentation current as requirements are confirmed or changed
  • Escalate unusual or higher risk compliance questions appropriately

By Day 60:

You independently own your standard Automated Affidavits responsibilities and can research, document, and apply routine compliance requirements with minimal oversight.

Days 61 to 90: Improve and Strengthen the Program

During your third month, the focus expands from managing the existing process to helping improve it.

You will:

  • Independently handle more complex affidavit and compliance exceptions
  • Proactively identify compliance gaps and areas of operational risk
  • Review workflows and templates against documented requirements
  • Identify recurring manual work, errors, and requirements that could be addressed through process improvements or automation
  • Contribute to stronger compliance documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Serve as a reliable internal resource for routine affidavit processing and compliance questions

By Day 90:

You operate independently as an Automated Affidavits Representative and authorized signer while also serving as a strong resource for affidavit compliance. You help ensure our workflows are accurate and efficient, our requirements are documented and understood, and potential compliance gaps are identified and addressed.

  • Good judgment and the ability to recognize when something does not look right, investigate further, and escalate when appropriate
  • Comfortable learning and working across multiple systems and automated workflows
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned work, and consistently meet deadlines and service level expectations
  • Comfortable serving as an authorized affidavit signer on behalf of Column
  • Experience working in a technology or SaaS environment

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with affidavits, notarization, legal notices, or other legal documents
  • Experience in compliance, legal operations, regulatory research, or a similar environment
  • Experience researching state or jurisdiction specific requirements
  • Experience working with electronic notarization or Remote Online Notarization processes
  • Experience working in a high volume document processing or operations environment
  • Experience maintaining compliance documentation, standard operating procedures, or internal knowledge resources
