Cyngn, Inc.

IT Support Specialist

About Cyngn, Inc.

Based in Mountain View, CA, Cyngn is a publicly-traded autonomous technology company. We deploy self-driving industrial vehicles -specifically autonomous tuggers -  to factories, warehouses, and other facilities throughout North America. To build this emergent technology, we are looking for innovative, motivated, and experienced leaders to join us and move this field forward. If you like to build, tinker, and create with a team of trusted and passionate colleagues, then Cyngn is the place for you.

Key reasons to join Cyngn:

We are small and big.

With under 100 employees, Cyngn operates with the energy of a startup. On the other hand, we’re publicly traded. This means our employees not only work in close-knit teams with mentorship from company leaders—they also get access to the liquidity of our publicly-traded equity.

We build today and deploy tomorrow.

Our autonomous vehicles aren’t just test concepts—they’re deployed to real clients right now. That means your work will have a tangible, visible impact.

We aren’t robots. We just develop them.

We’re a welcoming, diverse team of sharp thinkers and kind humans. Collaboration and trust drive our creative environment. At Cyngn, everyone’s perspective matters—and that’s what powers our innovation.

About the role

This is a hands-on, fully onsite IT role in Mountain View supporting our engineering, operations, and business teams day to day.

You'll work directly with our Head of IT as the second member of a two-person IT function. That means real ownership from day one — you'll be the first point of contact for most support requests, and you'll get exposure to systems, networking, and security work that's usually gatekept at larger companies. If you've done two or three years of help desk work and want to grow into systems administration, this is a role designed to get you there.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee IT support — triage, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and access issues across Mac, Windows, and Linux
  • Own day-to-day ticket queue management: intake, prioritization, documentation, and follow-through to resolution
  • Administer user accounts and access in Google Workspace, JumpCloud, Slack, etc — provisioning, permissions, group management, and MFA enrollment
  • Run new hire onboarding setups end to end: workstation provisioning, account creation, peripheral setup, and first-day walkthroughs. Handle offboarding and device recovery
  • Set up and configure new equipment; support desk moves, workspace changes, and conference room AV
  • Maintain hardware and software inventory, and track license assignments and renewal dates
  • Assist the Head of IT with network support tasks — cabling, switch and access point configuration, VPN client setup, and basic connectivity troubleshooting
  • Follow and help enforce security practices around device compliance, patching, and access reviews
  • Write and maintain internal documentation and how-to guides so common issues become self-service
  • Escalate complex issues with clear, well-documented context

Occasional after-hours or weekend availability may be needed for planned work such as office moves, equipment refreshes, or system maintenance.

Priorities: 3-6 Month Goals

First 3 Months

  • Own the ticket queue end to end for tier 1-2 support
  • Own and improve onboarding/offboarding across Mac, Windows, and Ubuntu — SaaS Apps + Services,  device provisioning and recovery
  • Fully understand the whole IT assessment management lifecycle and have an understanding of organizational needs and improvements

By 4-6 Months

  • Help improve security hygiene: device compliance and patch reporting, quarterly access reviews, and evidence collection for compliance management
  • Handle network L1: address connectivity issues, cabling, conference room AV
  • Build-out internal and external IT knowledgebase

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (computer science/information technology)
  • 2-3 years of hands-on IT support, help desk, or desktop support experience
  • Comfortable supporting end users across Windows, macOS, and Linux
  • Familiarity with core networking concepts — DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi troubleshooting — and willingness to learn more
  • Experience administering users and groups in an identity or directory platform (JumpCloud, Google Workspace, or similar)
  • Experience working in a ticketing system and keeping documentation current
  • Strong communication skills and patience — you'll be explaining technical things to non-technical people all day
  • Self-directed and organized; comfortable when priorities shift
  • Experienced working within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with the ability to manage shifting priorities

Bonus Qualifications

  • Exposure to virtualization or containerization (Docker, VMware, Proxmox)
  • Basic scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, or Python)
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or comparable certification
  • Experience in a hardware, robotics, or manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with MDM tooling and endpoint compliance

Benefits & Perks

  • Health benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision) through Aetna, Kaiser Permanente, and Guardian, with multiple plan tiers to choose from
  • Ancillary benefits including accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity plans (Voya)
  • Company-paid basic life insurance, plus voluntary (supplemental) life for you and your dependents
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance, fully paid by Cyngn
  • HSA and FSA (Health & Dependent Daycare)
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 1:1 Health Concierge

What You Can Expect (Cyngn’s interview process)

  • A real person will review your application
  • We’ll kick off the process with a one-sided video interview where you’ll share a little more about yourself and we’ll get some basic questions out of the way
  • A Recruiter touch point will go over the process in more detail and answer your questions
  • A 45-minute interview with the hiring manager
  • A full-loop interview process consisting of 3-4 additional conversations to gauge technical and soft skills and culture fit.
  • A final onsite interview with the team.
