As we scale into additional states and carrier programs, we are strengthening our insurance reporting, billing, and reconciliation infrastructure to support accurate financial operations and scalable growth.

Position Overview

Delos Insurance Solutions is seeking a Premium Accounting Manager to own premium accounting and insurance finance operations across Delos programs. This role is responsible for bordereaux reporting, carrier billing and remittance, premium accounting, cash reconciliation, and end-to-end carrier and program reconciliations.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, ownership of recurring monthly deadlines, and the ability to independently investigate and resolve discrepancies. The role will also strengthen controls, improve processes, and help scale the function as Delos grows.

Key Responsibilities

Bordereaux Reporting & Carrier Deliverables

  • Own monthly bordereaux and recurring carrier/program reporting, including premium, commissions, fees, cancellations, and endorsements.
  • Maintain carrier and program reporting calendars, templates, deadlines, and submission requirements.
  • Validate policy and transaction data against billing, payment, and financial records before submission.
  • Ensure reporting ties to billing and remittance activity and manage corrections, resubmissions, and carrier questions.
  • Translate carrier-specific requirements into accurate, repeatable reporting processes.

Billing, Remittance & Cash Application

  • Own recurring carrier billing and settlement support, including premium, commissions, fees, taxes, return premium, and net amounts due.
  • Prepare carrier statements, invoices, remittance schedules, and payment support.
  • Reconcile billed and collected premium across payment platforms, bank activity, ACH/wires, and other sources.
  • Investigate and resolve differences related to endorsements, cancellations, refunds, chargebacks, commissions, and timing.
  • Maintain accurate schedules of receivables, payables, unapplied cash, and outstanding settlement items.

Carrier Reconciliation & Financial Integrity

  • Perform monthly carrier and program reconciliations across policy data, bordereaux, carrier statements, payments, bank activity, and accounting records.
  • Maintain carrier/program rollforwards showing balances, activity, payments, adjustments, and outstanding items.
  • Investigate root causes of discrepancies and coordinate with internal teams and carrier partners to resolve them.
  • Maintain organized documentation and audit trails that allow balances to be traced to source data.

Month-End Close, Controls & Audit Support

  • Support month-end close for premium, commissions, fees, receivables, payables, and cash activity.
  • Identify and support required accruals, reclasses, and accounting adjustments.
  • Respond to carrier, auditor, and management requests with accurate documentation.
  • Maintain SOPs, controls, and checklists for recurring reporting, billing, payment, and reconciliation processes.

Process Improvement & Scale

  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting, billing, reconciliations, and exception management.
  • Improve templates, controls, and reconciliation tools to reduce manual work and reporting risk.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Product, and Engineering to improve data quality and financial reporting.
  • Build scalable processes as Delos adds carriers, products, states, and transaction volume.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in premium accounting, insurance finance/reporting, MGA/carrier operations, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience with bordereaux, carrier statements, billing/remittance, and insurance reconciliations.
  • Strong knowledge of premium, commissions, fees, taxes, endorsements, cancellations, refunds, and carrier settlements.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills with experience reconciling large transaction-level data sets.
  • Ability to reconcile data across policy systems, payment platforms, bank activity, carrier reports, and accounting records.
  • Strong organization, problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines.

Preferred

  • Experience with an MGA, MGU, carrier, TPA, reinsurer, or insurance services firm, preferably in P&C.
  • Experience in a multi-carrier or multi-program environment.
  • Familiarity with premium trust/program bank accounts, cash application, and carrier remittance.
  • Experience with accounting systems, policy administration systems, data tools, or automated reconciliation workflows.
  • Experience improving or scaling insurance finance operations.

What Success Looks Like

  • Carrier reporting and bordereaux are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
  • Billing, remittance, and cash activity consistently reconcile to policy-level reporting.
  • Carrier and program balances reconcile monthly, with discrepancies clearly documented and resolved.
  • Finance leadership has reliable visibility into carrier balances, cash movement, and outstanding items.
