About the role

The Manager of Import & Logistics is responsible for coordinating and managing the movement of goods across domestic and international supply chains. This role ensures shipments are executed efficiently, compliantly, and on time by overseeing transportation, customs clearance, and all required shipping documentation. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with logistics operations, customs regulations, and trade documentation.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations ·  


  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor domestic and international shipments to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
  • Prepare, review, and maintain shipping and customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and import/export filings
  • Ensure compliance with applicable customs regulations, trade laws, and company policies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders
  • Track shipments and proactively resolve delays, discrepancies, or customs-related issues
  • Coordinate import and export clearance activities with customs authorities and brokers
  • Maintain accurate logistics and compliance records in company systems
  • Support audits, internal reviews, and regulatory inquiries related to shipping and trade compliance
  • Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency

Qualifications, Experience and Skills ·              

  • Proven experience in logistics, shipping, and customs documentation
  • Working knowledge of import/export regulations and international shipping requirements
  • Experience preparing and reviewing commercial trade documents
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
  • DoT compliant HAZMAT certification in accordance with 49 CFR

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with international freight forwarders and customs brokers
  • Familiarity with HTS classification, Incoterms®, and valuation concepts
  • Experience with ERP or logistics management systems
  • Dangerous Goods familiarity and certification
