Title: Area Security Manager, Ohio

Position: Full Time

Location: Columbus, Ohio area
Travel: 10%

The Area Security Manager, Ohio is accountable for day-to-day physical security operations across EdgeConneX hyperscale data center campuses in Ohio. The role owns contract guard force performance, screening operations, adherence to operational security standards, and driving issues through to closure in partnership with Operations, Facilities, IT, and customer security teams.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role covering a small number of campuses at high intensity, with live customer operations and active construction often on the same site, rather than a dispersed estate. It is based in the Columbus, Ohio area, requires up to 10% travel within North America, and directs contract security teams through vendor management and operational controls.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee contract guard vendors: post performance, professionalism, and adherence to post orders.
  • Stand up and run screening operations, including procedures, officer training and certification, and throughput and compliance reporting.
  • Conduct site audits/post inspections; document findings and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Manage vendor escalations and accountability for repeat issues and staffing quality.
  • Support incident triage, escalation, documentation quality, and follow-up.
  • Support campus security stand-up with new facilities: guard post activation, post orders, systems acceptance, and handover into steady-state operations.
  • Support rollout and adherence to EdgeConneX operational security standards and procedures.
  • Use incident and audit trends to reduce repeat issues and improve consistency across sites.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the site security systems in use and coordinate with internal teams and integrators as needed.
  • Liaise with customer security teams on operational issues and reporting expectations.
  • Support internal/external audits (evidence, reporting, closure).
  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document incidents and audit findings clearly and communicate expectations directly with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Ability to set standards, drive accountability, and hold outsourced providers to performance requirements and post orders.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute across multiple concurrent campuses, balancing live customer operations and construction activity without losing attention to detail.
  • Strong follow-through: able to drive corrective actions to closure and prevent repeat issues.
  • Confident working with Operations, Facilities, IT, and customer security teams in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong audit mindset, including consistent documentation, evidence collection, and tracking of actions and outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of jurisdictional security requirements and basic compliance expectations relevant to critical infrastructure.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in security management, criminal justice, business administration, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or government operations with responsibility for security programs.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting critical infrastructure (data centers, energy, utilities, telecom, or other complex environments).
  • Experience managing outsourced security vendors, including SLAs, audits/post inspections, performance management, and QBRs.
  • Experience supporting third-party contracts and statements of work related to physical security services.
  • Experience supporting security-related audits and certification requirements (examples may include SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS), including evidence collection and follow-up closure.
  • Experience with entry screening operations or high-throughput access control environments preferred.
  • Comfortable working independently across shifting priorities, with clear ownership and consistent execution.
