Foxleigh Mine is an established open-cut coal operation located in Queensland's Bowen Basin, approximately 15 kilometres south of Middlemount and 275 kilometres northwest of Rockhampton. Since commencing operations in 1999, Foxleigh has built a strong reputation for producing premium low volatile PCI metallurgical coal, a key ingredient in steel manufacturing supplied to customers around the world.

Bench Hand

The Role

Foxleigh Mine is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Bench Hand to join our Drill & Blast team. Reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor, you will play an important role in supporting the safe and efficient preparation and execution of blasting activities across the mine operation.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Assist with preparing blast patterns and blast holes for loading activities.
• Load stemming material and support blast hole preparation.
• Assist with explosives loading and tie-in activities under authorised supervision and in accordance with site procedures.
• Assist with establishing and maintaining blast exclusion zones.
• Conduct pre-use inspections and maintain blast equipment, tools and vehicles in a safe and serviceable condition.
• Assist with post-blast inspections and clean-up activities.
• Maintain the security and accountability of blasting equipment, accessories and consumables.
• Support inventory management and stock control of blast consumables.
• Identify and report hazards, incidents and opportunities for improvement.

About You

Essential Requirements:

• Current Open C Class Driver's Licence.
• Standard 11 Surface Coal Induction.
• Current Coal Mine Workers' Health Assessment.
• Previous experience in an open-cut coal mining environment or similar heavy industry.
• Understanding of safe work practices and risk management.
• Ability to follow procedures and work effectively under supervision.
• A strong commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
