Business Analyst 
Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 annually

About the Role 

Hunter Strategy is seeking a Business Analyst to support a new mission with a large federal civilian agency. You work alongside the Project Manager and Deputy IT Project Manager to gather requirements from the client, and you own turning those requirements into epics and user stories that development teams can act on. 

This is a strong seat for an analyst who wants to grow. You sit in on client requirements conversations with experienced program leadership and learn how a SAFe program runs from the inside. You also partner with the Scrum Master to build out the Jira dashboards and requirements structure the program depends on. The program is greenfield, so what you help build is what everyone uses. 

What You Will Do 

  • Work alongside the Project Manager and Deputy IT Project Manager to gather and clarify requirements from the client 
  • Turn requirements into epics and user stories with clear acceptance criteria 
  • Work alongside the Scrum Master to build out Jira dashboards and the program's requirements structure 
  • Maintain backlog readiness and traceability from requirements to program objectives 
  • Support sprint planning and PI Planning readiness 
  • Work with a team of Agile practitioners and architects and grow your Agile practice over time 

What You Bring 

  • 3+ years of business analysis or requirements experience 
  • Experience working in an Agile environment; SAFe exposure preferred 
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams 
  • Working knowledge of Jira, including boards, filters, and dashboards 
  • Strong written communication, with user stories and acceptance criteria that development teams can act on 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination 

Preferred 

  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or entry-level business analysis certification 
  • Experience supporting federal civilian or defense programs 
  • Familiarity with Confluence and requirements traceability practices 

Position Details 

This position is contingent upon contract award, with a tentative start date of September 1, 2026. Work is remote-first; occasional onsite support in Washington, DC may be coordinated with the Government. Hunter Strategy is an equal opportunity employer.
