Alcove - OTR is the first evolution of the MadTree hospitality experience; a space intentionally designed to connect people to nature and each other in the heart of Cincinnati’s historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.


Located in one of Cincinnati’s most historic and storied German beer halls, Alcove - OTR lives inside a building that was beautifully restored in 2022 and thoughtfully reimagined for a new generation of gathering and hospitality. The LEED-certified space blends approachable dining with warm hospitality, thoughtful design, and a nature-inspired atmosphere that feels both elevated and inviting. POSITION SUMMARY: The Bartender creates memorable beverage experiences that exceed guest expectations while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. As a key member of our bar and service team, they craft thoughtful drinks and genuine connections that bring people together. They will be an avid MadTree ambassador who lives the behaviors Connect, Grow, and Give a F*ck. 


LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH

STATUS: Part-Time, Full-Time

REPORTS TO: Assistant General Manager

SHIFTS: Must have availability (at least two of the days) Friday, Saturday, Sunday with availability on Sunday (AM/PM) preferred.

COMPENSATION RANGE: $5.50 + tips


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support bar and restaurant operations by executing functions in accordance with MadTree Alcove standards, guest expectations, and event specifications.
  • Responsible for setup and clean-up of the bar area.
  • Beverage service and housekeeping throughout shifts.
  • Food preparation for cocktail garnishes as needed.
  • Monitor and stock all supplies and product inventory behind the bar.
  • Monitor guests’ alcohol consumption to ensure a safe experience.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Serve as a consultant to guests to educate and help them select beverages.
  • Work as a team player to ensure each customer receives the best service possible and contribute to a goal of 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Help with service not limited to, polishing glassware and silverware, running food, bussing tables, and keeping the restaurant clean as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Spend time volunteering (paid) for MadTree Impact initiatives with excitement, encouraging your teammates to do the same.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

  • Experience in a high-volume bar and/or restaurant is strongly preferred.
  • Elevated knowledge of craft beer, wine, and spirits; familiarity with standard drink recipes.
  • Comfort with working independently, multitasking, and maintaining efficiency and productivity with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb.
  • Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
