About Alcove OTR

Alcove - OTR is the first evolution of the MadTree hospitality experience; a space intentionally designed to connect people to nature and each other in the heart of Cincinnati’s historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.

Located in one of Cincinnati’s most historic and storied German beer halls, Alcove - OTR lives inside a building that was beautifully restored in 2022 and thoughtfully reimagined for a new generation of gathering and hospitality. The LEED-certified space blends approachable dining with warm hospitality, thoughtful design, and a nature-inspired atmosphere that feels both elevated and inviting. POSITION SUMMARY: The Utility role is the connective tissue of our front-of-house — moving between hosting, bussing, food running, and service support to keep the restaurant clean, organized, and ready for whatever the shift brings. They greet guests at the door, reset tables with urgency, back up servers and bartenders through the rush, and keep the dining room sharp from open to close. They show up as a MadTree ambassador who lives Connect, Grow, and Give a F*ck every shift. 

LOCATION: Cinncinati, Oh

STATUS: Part-Time

REPORTS TO: General Manager

SHIFTS: Must have availability matching status type. Availability can include a mix of weekday, weekends, days, and nights.

COMPENSATION RANGE: $8.00

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver exceptional guest service through warm, engaging interactions throughout every shift
• Greet and seat guests at the front door, manage flow, and create a welcoming environment from the moment they walk in
• Clear, sanitize, and reset tables quickly and thoroughly to keep service moving
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation across dining areas, patios, bars, bathrooms, walkways, service stations, floors, trash areas, glass, furniture, and high-touch surfaces
• Monitor the restaurant's appearance continuously and address issues before guests notice them
• Support servers and bartenders with pre-bussing, food running, polishing glassware and silverware, stocking, and table maintenance
• Keep polished glassware and silverware levels stocked and service-ready at all times
• Refill ice, condiments, and operational essentials throughout service
• Communicate clearly between FOH and BOH to keep food moving and service tight
• Anticipate guest and team needs before being asked, and step in wherever support is needed as business shifts throughout the day
• Complete opening, closing, and transition side work thoroughly and consistently
• Keep stations stocked, organized, and ready for the next wave of service
• Maintain urgency during high-volume service without losing attention to detail
• Support service recovery and help fill operational gaps as they come up
• Support sustainability efforts through proper waste management and sorting

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties, accountabilities, and responsibilities satisfactorily. • High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ year host experience preferred.
• Open availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Reliable transportation and excellent attendance record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in hot environments.
• Ability to frequently reach, bend, and use hands and arms.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Experience in a high-volume bar and/or restaurant is strongly preferred.
• Comfort with working independently, multitasking, and maintaining efficiency and productivity with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
