MyndBridge is seeking an experienced and student-centered Applied Technology Instructor to serve as the lead instructor for our workforce development technology programs.

The Applied Technology Instructor combines the responsibilities of a technical instructor, certification coach, tutor, and mentor. This individual is responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on instruction that helps participants develop practical technology competencies, prepare for industry-recognized certifications, and build the professional skills necessary to pursue employment and continued education in technology-related fields.

The ideal candidate brings professional experience across information technology, computer hardware and software, systems engineering, networking, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, or related disciplines. Candidates should also have the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical learning experiences for students with varying levels of technical experience.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Instruction & Curriculum Delivery

  • Serve as the lead instructor for assigned technology and IT workforce development courses.
  • Deliver instructor-led, hands-on training in areas including computer hardware, software, operating systems, networking, troubleshooting, cybersecurity, systems administration, cloud technologies, and related applied technology disciplines.
  • Prepare participants for industry-recognized certifications, including CompTIA and other technology credentials incorporated into MyndBridge programming.
  • Facilitate laboratory exercises, simulations, technical projects, demonstrations, and problem-solving activities.
  • Connect classroom instruction to real-world IT environments, workflows, and workplace expectations.
  • Maintain organized lesson plans, instructional materials, assignments, assessments, and technical lab activities.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to continuously strengthen technology curriculum based on industry trends and employer needs.

Certification Preparation

  • Provide structured preparation for certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and other approved credentials.
  • Assess student readiness for certification examinations and identify areas requiring additional instruction.
  • Conduct certification review sessions, practice examinations, technical labs, and remediation activities.
  • Monitor certification progress and provide targeted interventions for participants requiring additional support.
  • Reinforce test-taking strategies and technical terminology while ensuring students understand the underlying competencies rather than relying solely on exam preparation.

Tutoring & Academic Support

  • Provide individual and small-group tutoring to participants requiring additional technical support.
  • Identify skill gaps and develop individualized strategies to improve student performance.
  • Provide additional support with assignments, labs, certification preparation, and technical projects.
  • Adapt instructional approaches for students with different learning styles, educational backgrounds, and levels of technology exposure.
  • Maintain appropriate availability for student questions and instructional support outside scheduled classroom instruction.

Mentoring & Career Development

  • Serve as a mentor and positive professional role model for program participants.
  • Help students understand career pathways within information technology, cybersecurity, systems engineering, networking, cloud computing, technical support, and related industries.
  • Reinforce professional expectations including communication, accountability, problem-solving, teamwork, punctuality, and workplace professionalism.
  • Help participants connect their technical competencies to specific occupations and career opportunities.
  • Support participants in developing confidence, persistence, professional identity, and independent problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with workforce development and case management staff to support participants experiencing barriers to program completion.

Student Performance & Accountability

  • Monitor attendance, participation, academic progress, certification readiness, and overall student performance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records in designated organizational systems.
  • Provide regular progress updates to program leadership and appropriate case management staff.
  • Identify participants at risk of falling behind and initiate appropriate instructional interventions.
  • Participate in student progress meetings and contribute to individualized support plans when necessary.
  • Support organizational goals related to program completion, certification attainment, employment readiness, and job placement.

Technology Lab & Program Support

  • Assist with maintaining functional and organized technology labs and instructional environments.
  • Support the configuration and troubleshooting of computers, software, peripherals, networking equipment, virtual environments, and other instructional technology.
  • Help ensure equipment used for training reflects current industry practices whenever possible.
  • Maintain appropriate cybersecurity, data privacy, and equipment-use practices within instructional environments.
  • Recommend technology, software, equipment, and instructional resources that strengthen program delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional background in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Software/Hardware Support, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, networking, troubleshooting, and systems administration.
  • Working knowledge of CompTIA certification competencies, particularly A+, Network+, and/or Security+.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and common systems issues.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary IT environments and technology career pathways.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to learners with varying experience levels.
  • Strong communication, classroom management, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate young adults and/or adult learners.
  • Ability to document student progress and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary workforce development team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current or previous CompTIA certifications such as A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent industry credentials.
  • Certifications or experience with platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Cisco, Linux, or related technologies.
  • Experience in systems engineering, network administration, IT support, cybersecurity, cloud computing, or infrastructure.
  • Experience teaching technology, conducting corporate training, providing technical instruction, or facilitating workforce development programs.
  • Experience preparing students or employees for industry certification examinations.
  • Experience working with youth, young adults, career changers, or individuals from historically underserved communities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Education, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent professional experience and industry certifications will be considered.

Performance in this position will be evaluated based on student attendance and engagement, technical skill development, course completion, certification readiness and attainment, quality of instruction, student progress, instructional documentation, successful intervention with struggling participants, and contribution to participants' overall career readiness.

Role Philosophy

The Applied Technology Instructor is not simply responsible for teaching technology. The instructor is responsible for helping participants learn how to think, troubleshoot, adapt, and perform like technology professionals.

The goal is for every participant to leave the program with stronger technical competencies, recognized credentials where applicable, greater confidence, and a clearer pathway into employment, continued education, or advanced technology training.
