Who Are We?
nesto is Canada’s leading provider of mortgage technology and financing solutions, managing $73B+ CAD in residential and commercial mortgages, with 1,000+ team members across 12 offices nationwide. You will be working on Nesto Cloud, Canada’s most advanced cloud platform, delivering end-to-end technology solutions for lenders in the digital age.
Builders. Problem-solvers. Curious minds. People who move fast, embrace innovation, and believe we’re stronger together.
Join Nesto as a Senior Analytics Engineer and take the lead on shaping the next generation of our data infrastructure. You’ll have the autonomy to move past "ticket-fixing" and instead architect the scalable ELT pipelines and dimensional models that define our engineering standards.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the Platform Evolution: Drive the migration of data pipelines from Azure Data Factory and legacy data assets such as Dataflow Gen 1 into the Microsoft Fabric environment, establishing a unified and autonomous data ecosystem for the analytics team.
- Engineer Scalable ELT Pipelines: Design and maintain production-grade pipelines using SQL and Python to ingest and transform complex datasets for external partners and internal stakeholders.
- Optimize for Performance: Design and refine data models and semantic layers to support efficient, scalable, and high-performing Power BI reporting.
- Establish Proactive Data Integrity Protocols: Implement custom validation logic that catches anomalies and schema drifts before they impact downstream reporting.
- Define Engineering Standards: Implement and maintain Git-based CI/CD workflows, robust data governance, and security protocols, ensuring the platform is scalable and audit-ready.
- Consult and Collaborate: Partner directly with clients and internal teams to uncover the "root why" of business requirements, providing technical leadership that prioritizes long-term maintainability over tactical fixes.
Who we are looking for
- Five (5) years of experience building and maintaining data solutions in modern cloud environments, ideally in B2B SaaS. You possess strong SQL and Python skills to architect production-grade pipelines in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or comparable stacks (Snowflake/Databricks).
- Mastery of dimensional modeling and semantic layer design. You don’t just load data; you design high-performance datasets specifically optimized for Power BI and complex analytical workloads.
- A proven track record of implementing Git-based CI/CD workflows and robust governance practices, including access control, usage monitoring, and automated data security.
- Experience building automated data validation and observability frameworks that move beyond basic failure alerts. You have the diagnostic rigor to perform deep-dive performance tuning on SQL execution plans and partitioning to resolve bottlenecks.
- A strategic thinker who prioritizes long-term platform health and maintainability over short-term "ticket-fixing." You engage deeply with stakeholders to uncover the "root why" before designing a technical solution.
- A proactive builder who remains composed under pressure, delivering stable data solutions and maintaining engineering rigor even when faced with shifting requirements or tight client deadlines.
The Reward
- The A-Team: Work alongside high-performing talent in the industry.
- Accelerated Growth: The slope of your learning curve here will be vertical. You will touch more production systems in one year than you would in five years at a bank.
- Top-Tier Coverage: Premium benefits plan fully paid by nesto, including comprehensive insurance and unlimited access to telemedicine and mental health services for you and your family.
- Rest & Recharge: 4 weeks of vacation to ensure you stay at peak performance.
- Best-in-Class Tools: Access to the resources and tech you need to execute without friction.
- Working framework: the environment that makes you productive and enables teamwork.
Diversity and Inclusion
At nesto, we believe that creativity and collaboration are the result of a diverse team. We are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and we strongly encourage women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and individuals with disabilities to apply.
