New Left Accelerator (NLA) and its 501(c)(3) affiliate, The Capacity Shop (TCS) are leaders in the growing field of operations capacity building.  Since 2016, we have developed specialized programs, training, tools, and resources designed to ensure social justice organizations are prepared to execute bold, compliant work and manage risk in today’s high-threat environment.

Overview

NLA and TCS raise a combination of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) funding to support their programs and operations. The Executive Director leads the organizations’ fundraising efforts in collaboration with staff and external partners. We are seeking an experienced Senior Fundraising Manager to provide temporary, hands-on capacity for fundraising coordination, grant proposals and reports, data tracking, and executive support. 

Working closely with the Executive Director and other teams, they will coordinate proposals and reports, maintain accurate fundraising data in Airtable and spreadsheets, and ensure priorities and next steps continue moving forward. This role will also serve as a key partner to the Executive Director by preparing meeting and conference materials, anticipating what information or decisions require their attention, and providing high-level updates.

This is a temporary,  non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime with supervisor approval. The schedule offers some flexibility, and we will consider candidates available to work either an average of 30 (part-time) or 40 (full-time) hours per week. Candidates may maintain other professional engagements, provided those commitments do not create a conflict of interest or interfere with the responsibilities and agreed-upon schedule of this role. We will prioritize candidates who can begin as soon as possible. 

We will be conducting interviews on a rolling basis. The priority application deadline is September 18, 2026.

Responsibilities

Grant Proposals & Reports 

• Draft, edit, and finalize grant and major-donor proposals, letters of inquiry, and renewal requests for both the c3 and c4 entities
• Ensure grant proposals and reporting are completed by the required deadlines 
• Coordinate with the Finance & Operations team to ensure grant proposal budgets reflect the grant narrative
• Maintain the Airtable to track and monitor grant proposals, deadlines, reports, and relevant documentation

Fundraising Strategic Support & Tracking 

• Draft fundraising priorities each quarter for the Executive Director, and adjust priorities as circumstances change
• Document NLA and TCS fundraising goals, commitments, received funds, and funding gaps across both entities
• Maintain fundraising data and tracking systems, including accurate and timely updates in Airtable
• Support the Executive Director with developing plans and proposals to address identified funding gaps
• Stay updated with the program team to keep up to date on the work and priorities that inform our fundraising strategy

• Work with Executive Director to design and run the end-of-year campaign
• Facilitate and lead the weekly Fundraising meetings

Funder Engagement Support

• Support the Executive Director in planning public appearances, including funder  conferences, Philanthropic Service Organizations (PSO) events, and in-house funder invitations
• Prepare briefing materials, talking points, meeting schedules, and funder-facing materials for priority conferences and funder engagements.
• Prepare funder-facing messaging materials including fundraising collateral
• Prepare written prospect research profiles on current and prospective funders.
• Set agendas and prepare follow-up materials for donor meetings and funder briefings, looping in the team as needed.
• Maintain the conference calendar, track relevant fundraising and sector events, and recommend attendance based on funder relationships and prospecting opportunities.
• Manage tracking and donor acknowledgment for individual donors
• Write the annual impact report and other funder-facing narrative documents.
• Write thank-you and acknowledgment language and follow through to ensure gifts are acknowledged promptly, coordinating with the team where needed to get them out the door.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of relevant fundraising experience, including significant responsibility for foundation fundraising and grant management 
• Strong understanding of and commitment to social justice and movement-building work
• Experience developing accurate grant proposals, reports, and funder-facing materials using existing organizational language and program information
• Excellent writing and editing skills, particularly grant proposals, reports, and funder communications
• Strong project management skills and ability to independently drive work from start to finish
• Exceptional attention to detail, including comfort working with fundraising data, budgets, and tracking systems
• Experience partnering closely with executive leadership and coordinating input across program, finance, and operations teams
• Ability to translate complex programs, strategies, and impact into clear, persuasive narratives for varied audiences
• Experience with Airtable or similar fundraising/project-management systems preferred
• Existing relationships with institutional funders are a plus, but not required

Compensation, Benefits, and Position Details

Title: Senior Fundraising Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: Generally Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m in local U.S. time zone

Classification: Temporary, Non-Exempt, Full-time or Part-time

Location: Remote, U.S.-based (applicants must reside and be able to legally work in the United States); Some domestic travel may be required (2-3 times per year)

Compensation: $44.70-$52.16 per hour, depending on experience
