CAE Specialist Engineer (FESS-Oriented)

Qnetic was founded with the mission to enable the transition to clean, sustainable energy. To achieve it, we are developing a high-performance energy storage system for the electric grid, based on new flywheel technology. It delivers ‘energy shifting’ at a lower cost than anything we know about. Compared to lithium-ion batteries, Qnetic has 3x the lifetime, 2x the discharge duration, 0.5x the cost and 0x the degradation.

We’re building something fundamentally different — and we’re looking for people who are driven to solve hard challenges, do meaningful work, and make a real impact on the future of energy.

About the role

The CAE Specialist wil conduct and review all the CAE analysis done around the mechanical system. The type of analysis will include but won’t be limited to bolt analysis, static structural strength of metallic and composite structures, modal analysis, stability analysis (Buckling), etc. Additionally the CAE Specialist will define and review the methods and best practice around FEA. Finally the CAE Specialist will own the execution and review of all the system DFMEA activities related to FEA analysis.

What you'll do

  • Conduct and review CAE/FEA analyses for mechanical systems and structures, including static, modal, buckling, bolt, and composite analyses.
  • Develop accurate simulation models, interpret results, and provide engineering recommendations to support product development.
  • Define and maintain CAE methodologies, modeling standards, and FEA best practices.
  • Lead and review DFMEA activities related to structural and mechanical integrity.
  • Collaborate with design, testing, and manufacturing teams to ensure simulation quality and validation correlation.
  • Support failure investigations and continuous improvement of simulation processes and tools.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in CAE/FEA for mechanical systems or structures.
  • Strong expertise in structural mechanics, metallic and composite structures, and finite element methods.
  • Proficiency with CAE tools such as ANSYS Mechanical, Abaqus, or equivalent.
  • Experience with DFMEA, engineering standards, and simulation validation methodologies
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken Chinese and English; able to use English as a working language for daily communication (including email correspondence with overseas colleagues, conference calls, and receiving foreign visitors).

Personal Attributes

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills with a strong service orientation.
  • High sense of responsibility and initiative; able to handle multiple tasks independently.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, with excellent problem-solving skills and resilience under pressure.
  • Proactive and positive personality with a strong team spirit.
