About the role

At Rancho BioSciences, we're expanding our network of exceptional Full Stack Developers to support upcoming client initiatives across the life sciences industry. We're looking for professionals who thrive on building innovative, data-driven technology solutions while fostering strong client relationships. What you'll do

  • Design and implement high-quality, scalable technical solutions for client projects
  • Translate business and/or functional requirements into sound engineering designs
  • Own the delivery of technical components or workstreams with minimal supervision
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across systems and environments
  • Evaluate technical options and recommend effective solutions that balance performance, cost, and maintainability
  • Collaborate directly with clients to clarify requirements and validate assumptions
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to working team
  • Contribute to client-facing deliverables, such as design documents, demos, and presentations
  • Work collaboratively with architects, project managers, and other members of the consulting team to deliver integrated solutions
  • Collaborate with client and Rancho teams to design and deliver components and solutions with high quality
  • Follow and help enforce engineering best practices, code quality standards, and security guidelines
  • Ensure deliverables meet both client expectations and internal quality benchmarks

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years' experience in a developer role with similar experience 
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar field; Masters degree preferred 
  • Experience in Life Sciences (Biology, Clinical Sciences, Chemistry) is preferred 
  • 4+ years of experience designing and implementing production-grade solutions in a modern technology stack (Python, SQL, dbt, React, Vue, TypeScript, AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Strong proficiency in at least one core engineering domain (software/application, data, or cloud engineering)
  • Fluency in all aspects of pipeline development
  • Experience with agile development process 
  • Expertise on back-end development with Python and/or Java 
  • Expertise in Javascript framework such as Angular and/or REACT 
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL Databases (MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Couchbase, etc.) 
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes 
  • Experience with Version Control, build automation and CI/CD tools 
  • Experience with system integration and APIs
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written 
  • Demonstrated experience with teamwork and collaboration amongst multiple teams 
  • Must understand sense of urgency and have prioritization skills 
  • Experience in a fast-paced, growing organization 
  • Must be flexible and willing to change with quick turnarounds 

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in R&D, including AI/ML in drug discovery, real world evidence (RWE), and digital clinical trials
  • Experience with data platform design (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift/Athena, BigQuery, etc.)
  • Experience with automation systems/software
  • Experience in the chemical synthesis space
  • Understanding and practical working experience of pharma data (omics, chemical structures, biologics, etc.)
