About the role

We’re looking for a Technical Accounting Manager to own core technical accounting work and help strengthen the company’s accounting policies and judgments. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & Reporting and will be a key partner to Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Legal, Tax, Equity, Treasury, and external auditors.

This is a highly technical role for someone who enjoys researching complex accounting questions, writing clear and defensible accounting memos, and translating accounting guidance into practical business conclusions. The ideal candidate has operated in a public-company environment and brings strong experience with public-company rigor, audit expectations, and SEC-style reporting processes. Experience supporting a company through private-to-public readiness is especially valuable.

This role requires employees to work from our San Francisco office 1–3 days per week.

What you will do

  • Own technical accounting research and documentation for complex and judgmental areas under US GAAP.
  • Support local GAAP requirements with our International Accounting team.
  • Prepare high-quality technical accounting memos, policy analyses, and accounting conclusions that are clear, well-supported, and audit-ready.
  • Support accounting for areas such as revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, leases, debt and equity transactions, business combinations, consolidation, intercompany, impairments, contingencies, and other emerging accounting topics.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & Reporting to build and maintain scalable accounting policies and technical accounting processes.
  • Effectively work cross-functionally to understand non-standard transactions or new products in order to assess the accounting implications.
  • Support public-company readiness and reporting maturity initiatives, including SEC-style disclosure support, reporting controls, and quarterly / annual reporting processes.
  • Monitor new accounting standards, assess potential company impact, and support implementation of new guidance.
  • Work closely with business and cross-functional partners to evaluate the accounting implications of new products, contracts, transactions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate with external auditors on technical accounting positions, audit requests, and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to audit committee-ready and leadership-ready materials that explain technical accounting conclusions in a clear and practical way.

What you will need

  • 8+years in progressive roles in accounting and/or auditing within technical accounting research
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting experience, with deep knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to research, interpret, and apply complex accounting guidance.
  • Proficiency with researching accounting literature including FASB, SEC, AICPA and IFRS rules and regulations
  • Experience preparing or reviewing technical accounting memos and supporting documentation for audit review.
  • Experience operating in a public-company environment or supporting public-company reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with SEC reporting expectations, financial statement disclosures, and quarterly / annual reporting cycles.
  • Experience partnering with external auditors and responding to technical accounting review comments.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong attention to detail, judgment, and ownership in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and prioritize effectively across close, reporting, audit, and ad hoc technical accounting matters.
  • Public accounting experience, particularly in audit or technical accounting advisory, strongly preferred.
