Sherman's: Proudly Not Normal Since '76 (and Counting!)

Forget everything you think you know about retail. Back in '76, while the world was doing its thing, Sharon Sherman was busy building something different – a side hustle selling clocks and gifts with a whole lot of heart. Fast-forward nearly half a century, and Sherman's has blossomed into four locations packed with home appliances, furniture, and mattresses.

Sure, we've grown beyond microwaves, but our family values? Rock solid. Show Concern. Have Fun. Be Helpful. Demonstrate Integrity. Show Ambition. Develop Relationships. These aren't just words on a wall; they're the fuel that keeps us going.

Why are we here? Because we're genuinely passionate about our community. We're the neighbors who help you turn houses into homes. And it all started because Sharon dared to be different.

We're seeking a Delivery Manager

You will join our growing delivery team, and be responsible for about 15-20 delivery crews.  As a key member of our Operations team, you'll oversee the day-to-day delivery operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of furniture, mattresses, and appliances.

What matters most to us?

You’ll own the day-to-day delivery operation—making sure furniture, mattresses, and appliances get delivered the right way: with care, clear communication, and a customer-first experience from arrival to final walkthrough.

But this role isn’t just about operations.

It’s about people.

You’ll set the tone, build the culture, and hold the standard.
You lead with integrity. You follow through. And your team knows exactly where they stand.

Your ability to get results matters.
And how you get them matters just as much.

So, What Does “Not Normal” Look Like Day-to-Day?

You Own Your Delivery Crew's Performance

You are responsible for how your Delivery Drivers show up. That means:

  • Frequent coaching conversations. You don't shy away from those crucial conversations.
  • Clear expectations. No surprises. Your team always knows where they stand.
  • Positive, relationship-driven leadership. You build people up, recognize wins, and create an environment where drivers feel valued, motivated, and connected to the team.

You Run the Delivery Department's Logistics

You keep our Next-Day-Delivery promise running smoothly:

  • Routing deliveries
  • Setting the drivers' schedules
  • Managing the Delivery "hot phone"
  • Ensuring truck fleet maintenance and cleanliness
  • Managing tool and supply inventory
  • Ensuring safety compliance
  • Handling delivery damage follow-up

You can think on your feet in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same—you’re leading the final mile, where the customer experience is won or lost.

You Prioritize the Customer Experience

Delivery is the final impression. You create a consistent delivery experience that is:

  • Prepared
  • Professional
  • Positive

And customers feel taken care of.

You Foster a Positive Work Environment

  • High support.
  • High expectations.
  • High accountability.
  • No egos.

We collaborate. We listen. We are open to change. We make each other better.

So, if you like:

  • Coaching people
  • Holding a high bar (and sticking to it)
  • Solving problems in real time
  • Building a team culture that makes people look forward to coming into work

Then we want to hear from you.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in delivery, warehouse, or installation operations; Management experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Strong communication skills (clear, direct, and consistent)
  • Open to feedback and quick to adapt—willing to adjust approach, learn, and improve in real time
  • Able to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic communication tools
  • A consistent focus on coaching and developing others
  • A drive to build and maintain a positive, high-performing team culture
