The Senior Data Governance Specialist will lead the design, refinement, and operationalization of Customer’s enterprise data governance framework. This role will support governance board structures, data classification, data quality standards, access governance, metadata standards, stewardship protocols, governance workflows, Microsoft Purview controls, data lifecycle concepts, and coordination with Government data stewards and functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead data governance planning, documentation, and artifact refinement.
  • Develop or support governance board charters, steward roles, operating procedures, review workflows, and decision processes.
  • Define or refine data classification standards, quality thresholds, naming conventions, metadata standards, and access request processes.
  • Support implementation of governance concepts in Microsoft Purview, including sensitivity labels, domain definitions, ownership metadata, and governance controls.
  • Support role-based access control alignment with Microsoft Entra ID and the Customer governance framework.
  • Co-develop governance artifacts with designated Government stakeholders to support maintainability and long-term adoption.
  • Support data quality reviews, governance maturity tracking, and reporting.
  • Support steward network identification, training concepts, protocols, and community-of-practice activities.
  • Coordinate with the Data Architect to ensure governance requirements are embedded in the technical architecture.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager to track governance deliverables, dependencies, risks, and stakeholder actions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CDMP or DGSP certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview governance controls.
  • Familiarity with DoD Data Strategy and VAULTIS goals.
  • Experience with federated governance models.
  • Experience developing data classification and access governance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting data stewardship, data quality, metadata management, and governance adoption.
