About the role

The Assistant Accountant supports the Finance team with effective management of financial risks and controls. This includes ensuring accuracy of data in reporting systems, reconciliations, the monthly P&L and reporting, as well as assisting with the preparation of budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Finance Manager and wider Finance team to manage financial risk and maintain a strong control framework
• Process stock billings and DSV invoices, ensuring accuracy through regular reconciliations.
• Perform bank account and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Administer Airwallex and travel-related accounts, ensuring receipts and documentation are maintained.
• Support month-end activities, including journal preparation, reconciliations and reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
• Prepare GST workpapers, ABS surveys and support other statutory reporting requirements.
• Assist with external audits and year-end financial reporting activities.
• Monitor financial controls and help maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Support Accounts Payable activities and provide backup coverage when required.
• Identify process improvement and automation opportunities to enhance finance operations.
• Lead and support finance-related projects, including sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Full or part qualified CA / CPA
• 2–3 years' experience in an Assistant Accountant role
• NetSuite experience
• Strong attention to detail and internal control mindset
• Analytical thinker who can spot trends, solve problems and recommend a way forward
• Builds great relationships across teams and manages time effectively
• Curious, adaptable and keen to learn
• Effective written and verbal communication
