The primary focus is on stabilizing operations while preserving the company’s employee-focused culture and reputation for exceptional custom craftsmanship.

This is a senior role for a proven operator who can identify operational weaknesses, establish visible standards, and drive measurable improvements in an environment where lead time, quality, and machine capacity are deeply interconnected.

Responsibilities:

Quality, Lead Time, and On-Time Shipment

  • Treat customer commitments as operational mandates, reducing missed commitments and avoidable delays.
  • Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks to ensure smooth throughput across all manufacturing stages.
  • Establish realistic daily output goals and clear escalation protocols when commitments are at risk.

Leadership and Accountability

  • Strengthen the leadership structure by leading through supervisors and leads, setting clear expectations for their performance.
  • Establish and maintain consistent daily operations and address weak or inconsistent leadership practices on the floor.
  • Develop emerging leaders within the production team while maintaining a high standard of individual accountability.
  • Create visible standards for operational performance and ensure consistency.

Quality Standards and Process Discipline

  • Establish, clarify, and enforce quality expectations throughout the entire production process, not just at final inspection.
  • Reduce rework, remakes, and defects.
  • Implement standard work procedures and corrective action protocols.
  • Cultivate a culture where quality standards are understood and consistently enforced by every team member.

Machine Capacity, Utilization, and Maintenance

  • Maximize the utilization and return on investment of existing machinery and equipment.
  • Improve machine uptime and operator discipline through strict adherence to preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Partner with the maintenance department to ensure equipment reliability directly supports production goals.
  • Ensure all machinery is properly staffed, scheduled, and operated to its full potential to minimize production delays.

Multilingual Workforce Leadership

  • Effectively lead and motivate a majority Spanish-speaking workforce within a multilingual production environment.
  • Eliminate communication gaps by utilizing translators, bilingual leads, visual standards, written procedures, and hands-on demonstrations.
  • Ensure all operational expectations and safety regulations are clearly understood by both English and Spanish-speaking employees.
  • Build trust and engagement across the team.

Measures of Success

  • Maintain and improve TaylorCraft’s industry-leading lead times.
  • Improve on-time shipment performance against committed ship dates.
  • Reduce late orders, missed commitments, schedule changes, and preventable delays.
  • Increase throughput using existing equipment, labor, and plant capacity.
  • Improve machine utilization, uptime, operator discipline, and preventive maintenance compliance.
  • Reduce customer-impacting defects, remakes, rework, and quality escapes.
  • Clarify and enforce quality standards across the entire plant.
  • Strengthen supervisor and lead accountability.
  • Improve communication and execution across a multilingual workforce.
  • Reduce bottlenecks, downtime, poor handoffs, and recurring production problems.
  • Create a safer, cleaner, more organized, and more disciplined manufacturing environment.
  • Stabilize plant operations without damaging TaylorCraft’s employee-focused culture.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive production management experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically within woodworking, cabinetry, or custom millwork.
  • Demonstrated success stepping into an underperforming manufacturing operation, identifying weaknesses, and driving measurable improvements.
  • Strong experience improving underperforming teams and strengthening leadership accountability through supervisors and leads.
  • Proven expertise in woodworking machinery, material flow, and the processes involved in manufacturing.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills; Spanish proficiency is strongly preferred.
  • A strong floor presence with a high sense of urgency and sound judgment.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position or move about the factory floor for extended periods.
  • Frequently required to transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment with noise, airborne particles, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Visual acuity required to inspect parts for quality control at close range.

We are always searching for skilled employees who are dependable, hardworking, have a great attitude and are committed to providing exceptional quality while meeting customer deadlines.
