Competitive Intelligence Manager

ThoughtSpot is a Data & AI platform that helps companies turn data into enterprise advantage. We're Gartner MQ leaders with more than 1,000 customers globally and offices in Mountain View, Chicago, London, Bangalore, Sydney, and Tokyo.

About The Role

ThoughtSpot is a Data & AI platform that helps companies turn data into enterprise advantage. We're a Gartner MQ leader with more than 1,000 customers globally and offices in Mountain View, Chicago, London, Bangalore, Sydney, Melbourne, and Tokyo.

ThoughtSpot started by giving humans a better way to ask questions of data. Spotter turned that into an AI analyst that reasons over governed enterprise data. Now every major player in the market is racing to bolt AI onto their own stack, which means the gap between what we say and what's actually true in the market has never mattered more.

Competitive intelligence at ThoughtSpot isn't a slide deck nobody updates; it's the source sales, marketing, and leadership trust before every major call. Unlike a research function that reports on competitors once a quarter, this role runs in real time: feeding talking points into live deals, briefing the field before a competitor's launch lands, and shaping the narrative leadership takes to the board.

We're looking for the person to own competitive intelligence for ThoughtSpot end-to-end. You'll sit inside Product Marketing with dotted lines to Sales leadership, Field Marketing, and the executive team, plus matrixed support from Sales Engineering from day one.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the competitive program. Monitor and dissect Tableau, Looker, Omni, and the rest of the field and provide messaging, feature launches, roadmap signals, pricing moves, and org shifts—before the field hears it from a prospect first.
  • Build the arsenal. Create and maintain sales-facing battlecards and quick-reference guides that reps actually open mid-call, not ones that sit unread in a shared drive.
  • Get in the deal. Support major sales opportunities directly with tailored talking points, live customer-facing input, and the insight that turns a stalled deal into a win. Every deal matters like it's the only one.
  • Train the field. Teach sales and marketing how to position against each competitor with not just what to say, but why it works.
  • Report the truth upward. Present win/loss analysis, competitive shifts, and market insight to executive leadership with data storytelling.
  • Fuel PMM and strategy. Feed the product marketing team ongoing signal on competitive movement, positioning, and messaging, and contribute to market assessments, SWOTs, and TAM/SAM analyses.

Who We're Looking For

This is a high-ownership role. Nobody hands you a script; empowerment plus accountability is how you'll operate here.

  • You have 4–7 years in B2B SaaS, specifically in the data and analytics space.
  • You've done this hands-on before: competitive intelligence, market research, or sales engineering—not from the sidelines.
  • You know the modern AI analytics stack cold: where Tableau, Looker, and Omni actually differ versus where they just claim to.
  • You can tell a story. Communication, presentation, and storytelling aren't a nice-to-have—they're the job.
  • You take a mess of signals and hand back the three things that matter. Synthesis over noise.
  • You're comfortable in ambiguity and a fast-moving, high-stakes environment.
  • We value what you've built and what you know vs your title or years of experience.

You Will Thrive Here If You…

  • Love synthesizing data and insights on competitors into sales-facing assets
  • Enjoy digging into blog posts, product docs and videos, earning calls, and roadmap breadcrumbs
  • Can turn “I heard that this vendor…” into “Here’s what it means for us, and what to do about it”
  • Are equal parts competitive, curious, and collaborative
