Senior Power BI Developer

Responsibilities 

  • Design, build and maintain advanced Power BI reports and dashboards that give Total Synergy customers real clarity over their data. 
  • Get hands-on with DAX, writing advanced measures and calculations — from time intelligence to calculated tables. 
  • Shape robust, well-structured data models (think star schema) that keep reports accurate and fast. 
  • Write and optimise complex SQL queries and build and maintain the views that power our reporting. 
  • Own database and ETL platform administration tasks like configuring new workflows, optimising database performance through indexing, and deploying new customer databases. 
  • Partner directly with clients — understanding their requirements, troubleshooting issues, and presenting solutions that land. 
  • Bring your problem-solving instincts to bear on complex data challenges, thinking outside the box to find the best answer. 
  • Collaborate with the team and wider business, sharing knowledge and helping us all get better at what we do. 
  • Spot opportunities to use AI tools to work smarter — in Power BI, in SQL, and in your day-to-day.

Qualifications/ Experience 

What you need to succeed

  • 5+ years’ experience developing advanced Power BI reporting solutions. 
  • Advanced DAX skills — you write complex measures and know how to optimise for performance. 
  • Strong data modelling experience, with a solid grasp of star schema design and best practice. 
  • Advanced SQL skills — from writing and optimising complex queries to developing views and handling database administration. 
  • Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders to gather requirements and present solutions with confidence. 
  • Sharp problem-solving instincts and the creativity to find answers to complex data challenges. 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive as part of a small, distributed team. 

Nice to have 

  • Experience with third-party Power BI tools such as Tabular Editor and DAX Studio. 
  • A genuine interest in using AI tools to sharpen your Power BI/SQL work and everyday productivity. 
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) or similar certification.
