Company: VB Spine

Looking for a career where your work truly matters? At VB Spine, you’ll be part of a mission-focused team that supports surgeons during life-changing spinal procedures. We’re the largest privately held spine company and among the largest family-owned medical technology companies in the world, dedicated to innovation, surgeon partnerships, and improving patient outcomes in spine care. As Manager, Data & Analytics in our Information Technology function within the Spine division, you’ll support the continued modernization of VB Spine’s analytics, reporting, and data platform capabilities — rationalizing the existing landscape, shaping a right-sized future-state architecture, and building scalable capabilities that support manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, finance, quality, and operational priorities.

What You’ll Do:

Data Strategy, Modernization & Roadmap

  • Support the development and execution of a 12–24 month Data & Analytics modernization roadmap aligned to VB Spine’s business priorities and post-separation operating model
  • Manage rationalization of legacy lift-and-shift reports, datasets, dashboards, data flows, and analytics processes to eliminate duplication and right-size capabilities
  • Contribute to future-state analytics architecture, including data platform strategy, reporting standards, semantic model design, data product approach, and self-service analytics
  • Partner with Enterprise Applications, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Master Data Management, and business functions to align data architecture with the broader technology roadmap
  • Identify opportunities to retire manual reporting, consolidate redundant tools/datasets, and transition to governed, automated, scalable analytics solutions
  • Support prioritization of reporting capabilities, data infrastructure, KPI standardization, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled use cases

BI & Analytics Delivery

  • Coordinate and oversee delivery of dashboards, reports, datasets, and analytical models across the enterprise, with emphasis on manufacturing, operations, supply chain, sales, and finance
  • Ensure analytics activities follow a structured SDLC framework (tiered validation, intake, design documentation, deployment governance) appropriate for a regulated medical device environment
  • Maintain architectural oversight of Power BI semantic models, ADF pipelines, Databricks workflows, and transformations for scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Drive standardization of reporting definitions, business logic, and KPI frameworks across source systems and business domains
  • Support reduction of manual reporting and transition toward governed, automated analytics solutions

Analytics Governance, Data Quality & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain analytics governance standards covering report definitions, KPI logic, semantic models, lineage, access controls, documentation, and ownership
  • Partner with MDM, Enterprise Applications, and business process owners to resolve source data quality issues impacting reporting and decision-making
  • Apply standards for dashboard development, testing, validation, deployment, documentation, and ongoing support
  • Ensure analytics solutions are designed with appropriate security, access controls, auditability, and compliance for a regulated environment
  • Support and maintain repeatable intake, prioritization, delivery, and support processes for analytics requests

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Provide day-to-day functional leadership and direction to data analysts and data engineers (individual contributor role with team lead responsibilities; no formal people management accountability)
  • Coordinate team workloads, monitor progress, and help ensure deliverables are completed on time and aligned with business priorities
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge sharing to support team effectiveness and professional development
  • Establish team ways of working, including intake management, delivery prioritization, sprint planning, documentation standards, and stakeholder communication
  • Build a culture of business partnership, technical excellence, data quality, and practical execution

Business Partnership & Analytics Adoption

  • Serve as a strategic partner to leaders across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Sales, Quality, and other functions
  • Translate business problems and operational needs into data products, dashboards, metrics, and analytical models
  • Drive adoption of analytics solutions through stakeholder engagement, training, documentation, and continuous improvement
  • Establish clear ownership of business definitions, KPIs, and decision-support reporting across functions
  • Help business teams move from reactive, manual reporting to trusted, self-service, insight-driven decision-making

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, or related fields
  • Hands-on experience with modern analytics tools including Power BI, Databricks, SQL, Python, and cloud data integration technologies
  • Experience rationalizing legacy reporting landscapes and supporting data platform modernization
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, semantic models, KPI standardization, and self-service analytics models
  • Experience operating in a regulated industry (medical device, healthcare, or life sciences preferred)
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and execution layers — contributing to future-state direction while staying engaged in architecture, delivery, and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong communication and partnership skills with the ability to translate business needs into trusted analytics solutions
  • Experience providing functional leadership or mentoring to analysts and engineers
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics capabilities (predictive analytics, anomaly detection, natural language insights) is a plus
