Business Development & Accounts Manager

WESTPAK is looking for an experienced, entrepreneurial-minded sales professional to establish and grow our commercial presence as we launch our first East Coast laboratory in Northwest Boston. This is a unique opportunity to play a foundational role in expanding one of the nation's most respected package testing laboratories into a new market. The ideal person will have a hunter mentality with proven experience of opening doors with new clients, building existing relationships, eliminating competitor threats within our customer base, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Business Development & Account Manager will be a proactive and curious member of our sales team, identifying growth opportunities for clients before a need or gap has been stated.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned as needed)

  • Own the commercial success of WESTPAK’s Northeast expansion by achieving quarterly and annual revenue objectives.
  • Develop strong relationships with key customer stakeholders that increase customer loyalty, expand wallet share, and position WESTPAK as a trusted long-term testing partner.
  • Prioritize in-person meetings with new and existing clients to strengthen relationships, identify opportunities, and demonstrate how WESTPAK can support their testing and validation needs.
  • Log all activity and customer information into Salesforce CRM.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the customer and act as the bridge for operations, finance, and other business departments.
  • Prepare sales reports and forecasts, as required.
  • Develop new business opportunities by building and expanding your professional network through industry conferences, trade shows, local events, referrals, and digital outreach.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating cross-functionally to drive the long-term success of your territory.
  • Create detailed sales business plans & customer presentations.
  • Drive leads and opportunities through the process of getting WESTPAK onto the Approved Vendor List, generating RFQs, and advancing opportunities through the sales pipeline.

Requirements for Eligibility

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or related fields is preferred.
  • Strong customer orientation with excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and data management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), and Salesforce CRM.
  • 5+ years of related sales experience and/or demonstrated account management capability.
  • Experience selling into the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Packaging, or Life Sciences industries is a strong plus.
  • Existing relationships with decision-makers within the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Packaging industries are a strong plus.
  • Past track record of meeting or exceeding sales budgets consistently year over year.
  • Business-to-business sales experience is required.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time; some overnight travel may be required.
  • Must be energized and self-motivated and be able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • You must possess a valid unrestricted driver’s license and have a reliable driving record.
  • Requires initial onsite training at our main labs in California with ongoing work arrangements to be determined based on role requirements.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $130,000 annually, with total on-target compensation potential of $160,000 – $170,000 through a performance-based sales incentive plan.
