What to Expect

Wonderist Agency is a full-service marketing agency that supports 1,200+ dentists around the country. We pride ourselves on ditching the old fashioned marketing model of stock photos and templated sites. We strive to tell our clients’ stories with bespoke brands, impactful photo and video shoots, and stunning website design (Here is a great example of our work: www.valordentaltx.com)

We’re a team of over 90+ passionate marketers with our headquarters nestled in sunny San Diego. We are walking distance from local hangouts, bars, and the famed Liberty Station. While many companies simply check the required boxes when it comes to culture, a well-balanced team and positive office culture has been the core of our success from the start. We are a social team at heart, and that is one constant that hasn’t changed with all the movement this economy and industry has seen. We have embraced a hybrid work model where local team members come in at least two days a week. This allows us to work from home and have flexibility, without altogether forgoing the excitement and moments of collaboration and inspiration you can only get from in-person time. Not to mention, we also genuinely enjoy spending time together and socializing.

We celebrate new ideas and prioritize a culture of trust and respect where team members can grow and take risks. Each quarter we host events under our four cultural pillars; health & wellness, personal & professional development, social good, and social. We are proud to have been named: San Diego Business Journal’s Best Places to Work in: 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023, Inc 5000 Regionals Fastest Growing Companies in: 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025, and 2026, San Diego Business Journal’s Fastest Growing Private Companies list in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024, Inc Best Workplaces list in: 2024 and 2025, and Inc. 5000 for the last 6 years (2019-2025)!

If you work at Wonderist, you likely enjoy a challenge, appreciate autonomy, actually care about clients, and are looking for a team that you can enjoy being part of.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The SEO Associate supports the day-to-day execution of SEO campaigns across our dental client base. Working closely with U.S.-based specialists, you'll handle tracking and analytics setup for new accounts, keyword research, on-page optimization, technical fixes, and local SEO — the hands-on, on-site work that gets campaigns launched correctly and keeps them moving.
This is a role for someone who wants to build real SEO depth. You'll work across a wide range of client sites, learn from senior specialists daily, and see the direct impact of your work in the data.
This is a fully remote role supporting a U.S.-based team. Clear, proactive written communication matters as much as technical skill.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Tracking & Analytics Setup
Set up Google Analytics 4 for new accounts — create the property and data stream, and configure conversion events for form submissions, calls, chat, and booking.
Install and configure Google Tag Manager, and confirm there is exactly one container and one property on the site.
Set up Google Search Console — verify ownership, submit the XML sitemap, request indexing, and link the property to GA4.
Verify every installation before sign-off using Tag Assistant and GA4 real-time — confirming the correct IDs are firing and events are recording.
Set up client dashboards and integrate data sources in Agency Analytics.
Troubleshooting
Diagnose tracking issues — tags not firing, events not recording, duplicate containers or properties, and conversions that stop reporting.
Investigate sudden drops in traffic or conversions to determine whether the cause is a tracking failure or a genuine performance change.
Resolve access and permission issues across Google properties, and coordinate with clients or internal teams to get what's needed.
Keyword Research & On-Page Optimization
Research and select target keywords for client websites, accounting for search intent, volume, and competitive difficulty.
Map keywords to the right pages and flag gaps where a target keyword has no page to rank.
Optimize website pages — meta titles and descriptions, header structure, and image alt text.
Build internal links that connect service pages, location pages, and existing pages in a way that reflects the site's architecture.
Technical SEO
Identify and fix basic technical issues including broken links, missing tags, duplicate content, and missing alt attributes.
Run and interpret site crawls, and flag anything beyond your scope to the assigned specialist.
Monitor indexation and crawl health in Search Console, and raise issues early.
Coordinate with web developers to implement changes that require developer access.
Local SEO
Support Google Business Profile optimization — profile fields, services, service descriptions, categories, and photos.
Maintain listing accuracy across directories and resolve sync errors or duplicate listings.
Verify business name, address, and phone details are consistent everywhere they appear.
Performance Reporting
Track keyword rankings, organic traffic, and conversions across your assigned accounts.
Share concise, regular performance updates with the U.S. team — what moved, what didn't, and what you think is behind it.
Flag meaningful declines early rather than waiting for a scheduled review.
Collaboration & Additional Responsibilities
Communicate clearly and proactively with U.S.-based team members and project leads.
Coordinate with web developers and designers to get changes implemented.
Escalate anything requiring a strategic judgment call to the assigned specialist rather than guessing.
Contribute to cross-team projects, process improvements, and new initiatives as assigned.
Take on new responsibilities and special projects as business needs evolve, with opportunities to learn and grow.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Communication: Writes clearly, concisely, and proactively in English. Shares updates before being asked and raises blockers early.
Attention to Detail: Catches a missing meta description, a broken internal link, or a tag that isn't firing before it affects performance or data.
Technical Aptitude: Comfortable setting up and verifying tracking, reading a crawl report, and working in a CMS without hand-holding.
Process Discipline: Follows documented processes consistently, and flags when a process doesn't fit the situation.
Organization & Time Management: Handles work across multiple client accounts and deadlines without dropping threads.
SEO Fundamentals: Solid working knowledge of on-page, off-page, and technical SEO — enough to work independently on defined tasks.
Problem-Solving: Diagnoses the actual cause rather than treating the symptom, and focuses on practical, actionable solutions.
Initiative: Takes ownership of assigned accounts and looks for improvements nobody asked for.
PERSONALITY MUSTS:
Our perfect fit is someone who is a problem solver who understands the difference between “yes, and…” and “yes, but…”. You should have a hungry, scrappy personality with a positive attitude and aims to deliver. Working in the client service industry can mean going the extra mile, and we need someone who is always willing to rise to the occasion for our clients and puts forward beautiful work that exceeds client expectations. Someone who is detailed and organized, driven and displays vigor and comes ready to play every day. Confidence, self-discipline, and a congenial, curious mind are things we love and admire.
The ideal SEO Associate is curious, detail-oriented, and genuinely interested in why rankings move. You verify rather than assume — you'd rather spend the extra ten minutes confirming a tag is firing than trust that it is. You're comfortable working independently in a remote role, you communicate without needing to be chased, and you'd rather ask a clarifying question than ship something you weren't sure about. A positive attitude, hunger to grow, and willingness to take ownership are a must.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1–3 years of hands-on SEO experience, agency or in-house.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English — clear, concise, and proactive.
Hands-on experience setting up Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, including configuring conversion events.
Experience with Google Search Console setup and verification.
Working knowledge of SEO best practices across on-page, off-page, and technical.
Experience with Ahrefs and/or SEMrush.
Experience with Agency Analytics.
Experience with Webflow or a comparable CMS.
Reliable high-speed internet connection.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow documented processes.
BONUS POINTS FOR APPLICANTS WITH:
Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for small on-site SEO edits
Healthcare or dental marketing experience
Google Business Profile and local SEO experience
Yext, Local Viking, or listings management experience
Screaming Frog or comparable crawling tools
Schema markup experience
GoHighLevel or comparable CRM experience
Monday.com or comparable project management tooling
Experience using AI tools in an SEO workflow
