Lyntris

Software Engineer

This role is contingent upon contract funding.

Lyntris is a defense technology company that connects sensing to action across the connected battlespace. Lyntris brings together the talents of Accelint and Vitesse teams under one mission, with each contributing deep expertise within their domain. Combining differentiated hardware, software and mission expertise, Lyntris helps customers sense threats, make sense of complex conditions and act with greater speed, precision and confidence in contested environments.

Lyntris supports U.S. and allied defense organizations across every branch — including Navy, Army, Air Force, Space Force and allied partners — spanning strategic, operational and tactical missions and every domain: Space, Air, Land, Sea and Cyber. With more than 200 active defense programs, Lyntris works at every level of the mission, from national command authority to the tactical edge.

Solutions are designed by operators who understand the mission, engineered for the conditions that degrade or defeat standard systems, and built on an open, modular architecture that integrates into existing programs without requiring them to start over. Lyntris moves faster than the traditional defense cycle — with integrated design, build and test capabilities in-house — and delivers systems that sustain and endure long after initial fielding.

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the development and integration of open architecture solutions for complex defense and aerospace systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with one or more government and industry standards, including SOSA Technical Standard, FACE, AMS GRA (AGRA/TGRA), or UCI, and a strong understanding of Government Reference Architectures and interoperability frameworks. This role will focus on implementing interface and serialization standards such as OMG IDL, Protocol Buffers, XML Schema (XSD), and XMI, performing structural and semantic gap analysis across multiple standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver interoperable, standards-based software solutions that support mission-critical capabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions that support the implementation and integration of open architecture and interoperability standards across defense and aerospace systems.
  • Analyze and implement one or more industry and government standards, including the SOSA Technical Standard, FACE, AMS GRA (AGRA/TGRA), and UCI, in support of software and system integration efforts.
  • Perform structural and semantic gap analysis between multiple standards and reference architectures (e.g., AMS GRA to/from SOSA) to enable interoperability and data exchange across heterogeneous systems.
  • Develop and maintain software interfaces and data models utilizing serialization and interface standards such as OMG IDL, Protocol Buffers, XML Schema (XSD), and XMI.
  • Support integration efforts by evaluating, mapping, and transforming data models and interface definitions across multiple standards and architectures.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, architects, and program stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with customer requirements and open systems architecture objectives.
  • Participate in technical reviews, architecture discussions, and software design activities supporting government and industry interoperability initiatives.
  • Support software documentation, interface specifications, and technical artifacts in accordance with applicable engineering and documentation standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of software development processes, interoperability practices, and engineering standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience supporting defense, aerospace, or other complex engineering environments.
  • Direct working experience with one or more of the following standards or frameworks:
    • SOSA Technical Standard
    • FACE (Future Airborne Capability Environment)
    • AMS GRA (AGRA/TGRA)
    • Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI)
  • Knowledge of Government Reference Architectures and consortium adoption and change-package processes.
  • Experience implementing or supporting serialization and interface standards including OMG IDL, Protocol Buffers, XML Schema (XSD), and XMI.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform structural and semantic gap analysis and integration across two or more standards or reference architectures (e.g., AMS GRA to/from SOSA).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Currently holds an active U.S. national security clearance or is able to receive and maintain one.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting Government Reference Architecture development, implementation, or modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with standards organizations and industry consortiums such as SISO, IEEE, W3C, and OMG.
  • Experience working with S1000D and technical documentation standards.
  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical software development programs.
  • Knowledge of open systems architecture principles and interoperability frameworks.
  • Experience with software integration, interface definition, and model-based engineering environments.
  • Active-duty military experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Clearance Requirements

Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information. Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL). In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment.
