nestled in New Orleans’ Marigny neighborhood. Hotel Peter and Paul consists of an existing church,

rectory, convent, and school buildings steeped in more than a century of local, preservationist

heritage. Our hotel offers classic, elegant experiences that defy formulaic guest expectations by

entwining enduring church and schoolhouse architecture with eclectic interiors and reimagined

About the role

We are seeking a Barista to craft the first great moment of many guests' days at our cafe. In this role, you are

responsible for preparing espresso drinks, coffee, and light bites to spec, running an efficient and welcoming

counter, and building the kind of quick, genuine connection that turns a coffee order into a guest's favorite part of

the morning.

The ideal Barista takes real pride in the craft — consistent shots, properly steamed milk, a latte that looks as good

as it tastes — while keeping a line moving without ever making a guest feel rushed. They're quick with names and

orders, comfortable on a busy register during a morning rush, and just as attentive restocking and cleaning during

a lull. Personable and energetic, they set a warm, upbeat tone at the counter that guests notice and rem

What you'll do

• Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and specialty beverages consistently to recipe and presentation standards
• Take and process orders accurately and efficiently via POS, including cash and card transactions
• Prepare and serve light food items such as pastries, sandwiches, and grab-and-go offerings
• Operate, clean, and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment
• Greet every guest warmly and build rapport that encourages repeat visits
• Maintain full knowledge of the coffee and food menu, including ingredients and allergens, to answer guest questions confidently
• Upsell menu items, seasonal drinks, and add-ons in a natural, non-pushy way
• Restock coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, and supplies throughout the shift
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary counter, bar, and dining area in compliance with health department standards
• Manage the flow of the line during peak periods, keeping wait times short without sacrificing quality
• Handle guest concerns or order corrections promptly and professionally
• Assist with opening or closing duties, including cash drawer counts and equipment breakdown/cleaning
• Qualifications

Qualifications

• Prior barista or coffee shop experience preferred; strong customer service backgrounds also considered
• Working knowledge of espresso equipment and coffee preparation techniques, or eagerness to learn quickly
• Food Handler's certification required or ability to obtain promptly
• Experience with POS systems and basic cash handling
• Ability to stay friendly, focused, and efficient during high-volume rush periods
• Strong communication skills and genuine enthusiasm for hospitality
• Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
• Comfortable standing and moving continuously behind a coffee counter for a full shift

Work Environment

• Active, on-your-feet role behind the counter for the full shift, often during high-volume morning periods
• Frequent guest interaction in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
• Exposure to heat and steam from espresso equipment
• Occasional lifting of coffee bags, milk cases, and supplies up to 30 lbs

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Hourly Rate: $10.00 per hour, plus tips.
