Senior Buyer, Controls & Accessories

Beehive Industries is dedicated to Powering American Defense by revolutionizing the design, development, and delivery of jet propulsion systems to support the warfighter. Through the integration of additive manufacturing, the company aims to meet the growing and urgent needs for unmanned aerial defense by dramatically improving a jet engine’s speed to market, fuel efficiency, and cost.  

  

Founded in 2020, the company is headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, with additional facilities in Knoxville, Tennessee, Loveland Ohio, and Mount Vernon, Ohio. Beehive is committed to grow and advance the defense industrial base while manufacturing exclusively in the USA. This role will be located at our Centennial, Colorado facility.


Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to support the tactical procurement activities in a fast-paced aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and issuing purchase orders across categories including controls & accessories, test hardware, and manufacturing support equipment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong supplier management skills, a solid procurement background under the FAR/DFARS, experience in regulated manufacturing environments, and the ability to drive cost savings while ensuring strict compliance with quality, delivery, and government regulations.


What You’ll Do...

  • List the core functions the role must be able to perform. Use action verbs; aim for 6–10 items. Add an approximate % of time if useful.
  • Lead sourcing and procurement activities for various categories.
  • Manage RFQs/RFPs, supplier selection, bid analysis, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Procure electronics, PCB’s, motors, pumps, tooling, test hardware, and related manufacturing support equipment.
  • Ensure full compliance with FAR/DFARS requirements and all government contracting regulations throughout the procurement process.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain all required compliance documentation, including flow-down of government contract clauses to suppliers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Quality, Finance, and Program Management teams to support business objectives.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, service agreements, and long-term supply arrangements.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure performance in quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Identify and execute cost reduction, process improvement, and supply chain risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and sourcing documentation within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Support audits and documentation requirements related to AS9100, ISO standards, and government contracting compliance.

You have...

  • Minimum qualifications a candidate must hold to be considered. Keep these defensible and job-related.
  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience
  • 3–7+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or highly regulated industries.
  • Skills & Competencies
  • Hands-on sourcing experience with electronics, including PCBs, motors, and pumps.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and related compliance documentation for U.S. government contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing, managing, and auditing procurement compliance documentation.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to read and interpret statements of work, and equipment specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement analytics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice to have...

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, additive, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with long-term supply agreements and logistics
  • Experience reading engineering drawings.

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $110,000-$135,000 base salary.  Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
