Chemistry Grading TA

About the role

  • In this position, you will assist professors with grading a variety of coursework, including lab reports, quizzes, homework assignments, and exams.

Expectations

  • Communicate with your instructor and ask questions about how they want assignments graded prior to starting grading
  • Ask for clarification when you are unsure about how to grade a particular item
  • Grade papers away from other distractions as they produce inefficient work and can cause changes in grading between students
  • Keep all aspects of grading (scores, student names, general performance,…) private from others
  • When possible, grade the front page, with the name, and then flip all assignments to the next page and grade blind of the owner of each
  • Once you have begun grading an assignment or a problem, do not stop until you have finished that portion completely as your mood and level of awareness are likely to influence your grading
  • Above all, be fair to each student and be consistent

Qualifications

  • Must be a current Bethel Student
  • Applicants must have successfully completed the course for which they will be grading, or an equivalent course as determined by the department.

 

Work Environment:

Grading may be completed remotely or in any location chosen by the student worker.

 

Physical Demands:

Must be able to remain seated for extended periods (2+ hours).

Hours will vary based on the needs of the professor.
