Sales Development Representative

About the role

The right Sales Development Representative candidate will be one who has experience with an outbound motion, works well in a smaller startup environment, is not afraid to try new things, and can self motivate day in and day out. This person can easily initiate relaxed but informative two-way conversations with prospects, and is highly self-motivated. The right candidate will also understand how to assess a company’s needs and cater the outreach to each prospect specifically.

We are seeking someone based in the Central or Mountain time zone.

Who you are:

You’re an ambitious, self-directed operator who can spot a qualified opportunity and knows how to earn the next conversation. You ask good questions, you listen, and you can flex your approach depending on who’s on the other end of the call;  from a hands-on practitioner to a VP. You bring a growth mindset and pick up new tools quickly, and you don’t need someone telling you what to do every hour of the day.

  • 2+ years of successful prospecting experience in the SaaS industry, with both outbound and inbound motions
  • A track record of adapting quickly to new campaigns, tools, and processes;  you see change as momentum, not friction
  • Curiosity and comfort experimenting with AI-assisted workflows (e.g., AI-personalized email, conversation intelligence, data enrichment) to work smarter, not just harder
  • Proficiency with CRM and sales engagement tools such as Salesforce, Nooks, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator
  • Experience with cold outbound prospecting and territory-based selling
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive, energetic phone presence
  • Ability to assess a company’s needs quickly and tailor outreach and messaging to that specific prospect
  • High integrity and genuine commitment to helping scale an early-stage business
  • Strong self-management in a remote environment, with consistent, proactive check-ins with leadership and the team
  • Based in the Central or Mountain time zone

What you’ll do:

Your core mandate is to build pipeline and set qualified meetings for the Bettercomp sales team and to keep improving how that work gets done as our motion evolves.

  • Build pipeline across your territory by driving outbound prospecting that consistently generates qualified meetings
  • Run a primarily outbound motion (~90%) while staying sharp on inbound qualification when it comes your way
  • Pivot quickly as new campaigns, initiatives, and target segments are introduced — you’ll be expected to adapt messaging and workflows on short notice, not just execute a static script
  • Leverage AI tools (Nooks, Claude, Gemini, and others as we adopt them) to drive higher efficiency with repetitive tasks and data mining, and list building.
  • Partner closely with Account Executives on territory planning, prioritization, and multi-threading strategy to win deals
  • Execute marketing campaigns and help refine them based on what’s actually working in the field
  • Become a confident, credible storyteller who can clearly convey Bettercomp’s value across our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)
  • Meet or exceed assigned quota and daily/weekly/monthly activity metrics
  • Maintain disciplined, consistent follow-through on prospect engagement, opportunity qualification, and documentation in Salesforce

Why you’ll love it:
  • A tight-knit, startup environment where your ideas and results are visible and valued
  • Direct exposure to Account Executives and leadership, with a clear path to grow your sales career
  • The chance to work at the intersection of relationship selling and cutting-edge AI tooling; skills that will only become more valuable
  • A mission worth showing up for: helping employers and employees align on how work is valued
