About BizzyCar

BizzyCar is a B2B SaaS company transforming the automotive care experience for consumers, dealerships, and manufacturers. Our mission is to simplify car repairs, enabling consumers to resolve issues like recalls without leaving home or work. Through our automated platform, we streamline the process from manufacturers to dealers to customers, significantly reducing notification times and making repair scheduling seamless. Dealers benefit from increased repair revenue and strengthened customer relationships, while OEMs avoid costly fines.

We are solving a $22B industry challenge, with over 70 million cars on the road having unresolved recalls. BizzyCar is a fast-paced, results-driven company with an experienced leadership team skilled in building high-value businesses. Employees enjoy competitive pay, equity opportunities, and medical benefits. While we’re a dispersed team, we prioritize collaboration and meet quarterly to maintain our strong culture.

About the role

BizzyCar is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead and scale our accounting function. You will own the integrity of our financial records, manage the close process and the accounting team, and build the systems and controls that let us grow without losing accuracy. You will partner closely with the Controller and cross-functional leaders to turn business needs, such as new pricing models, contracts, and billing structures, into sound accounting treatment, and to explain accounting requirements back to the business in clear, practical terms.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a high-growth environment. You will manage people, improve processes, and stay close enough to the work to know where the problems are. This is a hybrid role based in the Boston area, and candidates should be able to work in-office regularly to collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams.

What you'll do

  • Lead and manage the accounting team, including coaching, performance feedback, workload planning, and professional development.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, driving timelines, quality, and accountability.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules, and review work prepared by other members of the team.
  • Oversee the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements and internal management reporting.
  • Translate business requirements, contracts, and new revenue models into accounting policies and rules, and communicate accounting implications clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of accounting and finance systems, including billing, revenue, and ERP workflows, and document the resulting processes.
  • Oversee SaaS billing and revenue workflows, including invoicing, cash application, and customer account reconciliations.
  • Design, implement, and monitor internal controls that scale with the company.
  • Manage external audit and tax-preparation support, including schedules, documentation, and auditor relationships.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable operations.
  • Partner with Operations, Sales, Customer Success, and Leadership on financial analysis, variance investigation, and special projects.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline workflows as the company scales.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years managing and developing a team.
  • Has managed a team of 3 or more people.
  • Strong command of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Proven experience owning the month-end close and driving improvements to it.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing or significantly improving accounting and finance systems.
  • Ability to translate business needs into accounting rules and accounting requirements into business language.
  • Experience working in a start-up or high-growth environment, ideally SaaS or technology.
  • Experience working with external auditors.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across teams.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online.
  • Experience with Chargebee and HubSpot, and with SaaS billing and revenue workflows, is preferred.
