Under the direction of the Asset Performance Director, the Substation Assets Specialist serves as a customer-facing Subject Matter Expert at Camlin. This role is responsible for analyzing substation asset data from maintenance and online monitoring sources to deliver specialized technical services which include Condition Assessment reporting, Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA), and maintenance action recommendations. These services support key customer asset management programs by enhancing their asset reliability. As a member of the Camlin Asset Performance Team, the Substation Asset Specialist shall represent Camlin as an industry expert participating in industry technical working groups and conferences.

With specialized technical knowledge in circuit breakers/switchgear and other substation assets, this role will be key to development of technical solutions and interface with Product Management, Technology, Sales, and other cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze substation asset data (Circuit Breakers and Power Transformers) from customer maintenance and monitoring activities and prepare Condition Assessment reports in support of customer asset management programs.
  • Work in cross-functional teams focussed on diagnosing FMEA in substation assets and leveraging this data to support the development of automated analytics for failure mode detection and health assessment of major substation equipment: switchgear, transformers, and station batteries.
  • Represent the technical excellence of Camlin by advising customers on technical solutions, hardware and software, while illustrating technical benefits and providing examples of real use and success.
  • Leverage Camlin software technologies for the preparation of health assessment reports.
  • Support Product Management and Sales by identifying potential opportunities and challenges for Camlin Products in the market.
  • Represent Camlin Energy in technical committees and forums specializing in high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
  • Author industry articles and technical papers related to substation asset online monitoring and asset health condition assessment.
  • Deliver technical training on substation asset maintenance, FMEA, and associated topics.


Qualifications

Five years engineering work experience, with at least 3 years in related work experience e.g.

  • Asset maintenance, testing, or Commissioning
  • Asset Management
  • Engineering design or manufacturing of switchgear/circuit breakers


Detailed equipment knowledge relating maintenance, inspection, testing, or troubleshooting and repair of one or more of the following asset types (in order of priority):

  • Circuit breakers / switchgear
  • Power transformers
  • Instrument transformers
  • Station Batteries


- Must be proficient in reading and interpretation of industry standards and guides.

- Must be proficient in English; both verbal and written.

- Strong communication and presentation skills.

- Graduate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a University or College of recognized standing.
