Hybrid working: 2 days a week in Mulgrave, flexible working

Hands-on HR business partnering, complex people matters and varied people projects

Make a real difference with a disability support organisation

Are you an experienced People & Culture professional who enjoys being close to the business, solving real people problems and helping leaders get the best from their teams?

We’re looking for a People & Capability Business Partner to join our team at CareChoice.

This is a hands-on partnering role. You’ll work with leaders across the organisation on everything from complex employee relations and performance matters through to workforce planning, organisational change, people projects and improving the employee experience.

You won’t just advise from the sidelines. You’ll be trusted to understand what’s happening, work through the complexity and help leaders find practical, commercially sound solutions.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of People and Culture, you’ll partner with leaders across a large and geographically dispersed frontline workforce.

No two days will look quite the same. You might be coaching a leader through a difficult performance matter, managing an investigation, looking at workforce data and trends, supporting organisational change, working through an injury management matter or leading a people project that cuts across the organisation.

You’ll also play an important role in helping us continue to improve the way we work.

Your role will include:

  • partnering with operational and senior leaders on people priorities, workforce challenges and organisational change
  • managing complex employee and industrial relations matters, including investigations, grievances, performance and disciplinary processes
  • coaching leaders to confidently manage people matters and build their own capability
  • contributing to workforce planning, organisational design and talent initiatives
  • supporting workers compensation, injury management and return-to-work activities
  • using workforce data and insights to identify issues and recommend practical actions
  • leading and contributing to people projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • helping create a consistent and positive employee experience across the employee lifecycle.

About you

You’re likely to be an experienced HR practitioner who is comfortable working in a busy operational environment.

You know your way around Australian employment legislation and employee relations, but you also understand that good HR isn’t just about knowing the rules. You can listen, ask the right questions, exercise judgement and work with leaders to find solutions that make sense for the organisation and its people.

You’ll bring:

  • experience in a P&C Business Partner or HR Manager role
  • strong hands-on employee relations experience, including complex performance, conduct, grievance and investigation matters
  • sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation, the National Employment Standards and industrial instruments
  • experience working with operational leaders and frontline workforces
  • confidence building relationships with stakeholders at different levels of an organisation
  • the ability to balance employee experience, commercial considerations, risk and compliance
  • experience contributing to change, workforce or broader people projects
  • practical, curious and solutions-focused approach.

Experience with the SCHADS Award, workers compensation or the disability sector would be useful, but it’s not essential.

If you’ve built your HR career in healthcare, aged care, retail, hospitality, logistics or another large frontline environment, we’d also like to hear from you.

Why CareChoice?

At CareChoice, our work makes a real difference in people’s lives.

We support people with disability to live as independently as possible and to have choice and control over their lives. Behind that work is a large team of people, and our People & Culture team plays an important role in helping them do their best work.

You’ll join a team where you can make a genuine contribution, work on interesting and varied people challenges and have the opportunity to influence how we continue to grow and improve.

We work within a hybrid working model, in our Mulgrave Head Office 2 days a week, and travel to site from time to time.

If you enjoy the combination of people, problem-solving and getting things done, we’d love to hear from you.
