Your role as Director, Product Marketing
Reporting to Lucas McConnell, Vice President of Marketing, the Director of Product Marketing is responsible for how Dialogue understands its market and clients, and for making sure that understanding changes what we build, how we position it, and how our GTM teams sell and support it.
Much of this work happens outside the Marketing team. You will work every day with Product, Member Experience, Sales, Customer Success and Partnerships, and you will often need to move decisions without formal authority over the people making them. You will present recommendations to senior leaders, including on the product roadmap, and you are expected to build agreement through influence, evidence and judgment.
You will lead a team of two product marketers and are responsible for their growth, through regular coaching, clear goals and honest feedback. You will also sit on the Marketing Leadership Team and help set strategy, talent plans and the roadmap for the Marketing organization.
What you'll be doing
Influencing the roadmap and aligning the business
- Establish a client insights program that turns what members and clients tell us into: specific recommendations for the product roadmap; updated positioning and pitches; themes for marketing content and events
- Work with leaders in Product, Member Experience, Sales, Customer Success and Partnerships to agree on priorities and keep launches and messaging aligned
- Build a point of view on market trends and the competitive landscape, and recommend a direction even when the evidence is incomplete or points in different directions
Launches, positioning and messaging
- Set the product marketing strategy and be accountable for the results of launches, positioning and messaging.
- Do the foundational work yourself, such as leading launches and running positioning and messaging exercises, rather than only directing it.
Enabling GTM teams
- Direct GTM enablement for sales, customer success and partner teams, including a regular training cadence built on market insight and feedback from customer-facing teams
Running the function
- Lead and develop a team of two product marketers, including performance management and career development
- Own the annual Product Marketing budget, including agency work, hosted events and asset creation, and report on spend against plan
- Work with external partners on product marketing initiatives
We'd love to hear from you if you have
- 8+ years of experience in marketing, product marketing, or a related role
- A record of influencing across functions and with senior executives, including getting decisions made where you did not have the final say
- A history of being an active player in product roadmap decisions by bringing client and market insights to the fore of the conversation
- Comfortable making fast decisions, learning from them and changing course when needed
- Experience leading and developing a team, at Director level or equivalent scope
- Experience leading go-to-market enablement across sales, customer success and partner teams
- Experience owning and managing a budget, including agency spend, and working with external partners
- Enjoy defining a vision for a team, but also rolling up your sleeves to execute
- Have taken on expanded scope or been promoted in prior roles
- Able to work from our Montreal or Toronto office three days a week
At Dialogue, your well-being is our priority
Taking care of others also means taking care of our team! Depending on your role and employment status, you could have access to the following benefits:
- Access to the Dialogue app and virtual mental health support for you and your family
- Benefits plan, a health spending account, dental coverage, and fitness reimbursement
- 4 weeks vacation, 9 wellness days, and 1 volunteer day
- Hybrid work: 3 days/week in our Montreal or Toronto offices, excluding remote roles
- Work abroad up to 4 weeks/year
- Incentive plans, referral bonuses & RRSP matching
- Learning via Coursera, external training budget & mentorship
- Optional parental leave top-up
