Staff Accountant, Revenue

What is the purpose of this role?

The Staff Accountant, Revenue, plays a key role in the company’s revenue accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting through contract review, revenue recognition, and month-end close activities. This role also supports accurate billing and partners cross-functionally across Finance, Sales, and Operations.


What is the role?

As a Staff Accountant, Revenue, you will review customer contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition, complete month-end close activities, and perform detailed analysis of transactions within our NetSuite ERP system, while supporting accurate billing across the order-to-cash cycle. You’ll work closely with experienced accounting professionals and cross-functional teams to maintain the integrity of our financial records and contribute to process improvements—building the skills and track record needed to grow into a Senior Revenue Accountant role.

What will you do?

  • Review both standard and non-standard contracts for streamlined operations and compliance with ASC 606.
  • Support accurate, timely billing that aligns with contract terms, using automation to drive continuous process improvement.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, including working with appropriate DOOR teams, including Sales, Account Management, Revenue Operations, and Collections for resolution.
  • Complete month-end close activities, including revenue journal entries, account reconciliations, and SOX controls related to contracts and revenue recognition.
  • Perform detailed analysis of revenue and transaction activity within NetSuite to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support compliance with revenue recognition policies and internal controls.
  • Help maintain revenue accounting documentation and processes.
  • Generate reports and provide data support for internal teams and customers as needed.
  • Assist with audits, ad-hoc, special projects, and other requests as needed. 


What do you bring to DOOR?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
  • 1-3 years of revenue accounting, general accounting, or related experience, with the readiness and drive to grow into a senior-level role.
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred.
  • Working knowledge of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606) and month-end close processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a revenue accounting function.

Location:

  • This is a hybrid role based in our St. Louis (Creve Coeur) office, offering a balance of in-office collaboration three days per week and remote work two days per week.
