About the role

  • The Director, Energy Platform Development is a full-time leadership role within the Energy Strategy and Development organization. The platform this role builds spans the full energy value chain: utility power procurement and interconnection, behind-the-meter generation, storage, and the sequencing and balancing of all of these at gigawatt scale across dozens of concurrent projects. No one in the industry has systematized this end to end. Utilities were not built for this pace of load growth, interconnection queues were not built for this scale, and the traditional playbook of waiting for the grid no longer works. This role turns the strategy for solving that problem into an operating platform: the tools, templates, processes, playbooks, systems, and organizational structure that make the energy function scalable, repeatable, and consistent.
  • The role has three pillars. First, own the design and build of the integrated energy strategy and delivery platform. Second, stand up and lead the program management office (PMO) for the energy development and strategy function. Third, lead the body of work that integrates sister portfolio companies into the broader effort. A smaller portion of the role supports extending the same platform frameworks to EQT portfolio sister companies where alignment creates value for ECX.

What you'll do

Build the Integrated Energy Strategy and Delivery Platform

  • Own the design and build of the integrated energy strategy and delivery platform, converting how ECX secures utility power, balances it with behind-the-meter generation, and scales the combined portfolio into a documented, repeatable operating model
  • Codify the energy strategy into executable form: how sites are evaluated for power availability and risk, how utility and transmission engagements are structured and sequenced, how behind-the-meter options such as gas generation, storage, and emerging technologies are assessed and deployed, and how the two paths are balanced on every project
  • Build and develop the tools, templates, processes, and playbooks that standardize energy execution across sites, regions, and project phases, from interconnection studies and utility agreements through energization
  • Lead implementation of the systems of record that support the platform, including project management, milestone tracking, and reporting infrastructure fit for capital-intensive, contract-heavy energy development work
  • Set up and manage the organizational structure that supports the platform, clarifying roles, accountability, and handoffs across the energy function
  • Create consistency across markets and utilities so the platform produces the same quality of outcome regardless of geography, counterparty, or who is executing

Build and Lead the Program Management Office

  • Stand up and lead the PMO for the energy development and strategy function, including governance, cadence, and reporting structure
  • Define and enforce the milestone frameworks, deliverable standards, and tracking discipline that energy development demands, where progress is measured in interconnection milestones, executed agreements, and megawatts delivered
  • Select, direct, and hold accountable external PMO partners, ensuring they staff technical work directly rather than layering coordination overhead
  • Own the health of the portfolio view: schedule, risk, and dependency visibility across active energy projects
  • Manage and develop the team and resources supporting platform and PMO execution as the function scales

Integrate Sister Portfolio Companies

  • Lead the body of work that integrates EQT sister portfolio companies into the broader platform effort where it supports ECX outcomes
  • Extend platform frameworks, templates, and processes to portfolio company collaborations so joint energy work, including behind-the-meter self-build and generation development, follows a consistent model
  • Own the coordination model and shared workstreams with portfolio company counterparts, keeping ownership boundaries clear between what ECX owns and what it informs

Qualifications

  • Deep experience in energy development, utility power procurement, interconnection, or behind-the-meter generation, ideally serving large-load customers such as data centers
  • Proven track record building and leading operating platforms, PMOs, or scaled process infrastructure within energy, utilities, or capital-intensive infrastructure development
  • Demonstrated ability to build tools, templates, playbooks, and processes that organizations adopt at scale
  • Experience implementing enterprise project management systems and standing up governance and reporting structures from the ground up
  • Experience leading teams and directing external partners in a build environment
  • Ability to operate at both the strategic and executional level, from energy strategy design to hands-on cross-team coordination
  • Utility, developer, national lab, or portfolio company experience preferred
