About this role
ESS Metron is looking for a PDC Electrical Technical Trainer. The Electrical Assembly is responsible for onboarding and training new hires in foundational electrical assembly practices within the Power Distribution Center (PDC) Assembly Department. This role ensures employees are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and safety awareness required before transitioning to production teams. Additionally, the Electrical Technical Trainer performs inspections of assembled components and electrical installations, identifies discrepancies, and collaborates with the Senior Electrical Assembly Lead and department leadership to develop and implement corrective action plans to improve quality and consistency.
What You'll Be Doing
- Champion a "Safety-First" culture at all times
- Train new hires on electrical assembly fundamentals, tools, equipment, and processes
- Develop and maintain structured training materials, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Evaluate trainee performance and readiness for transition to production teams
- Conduct inspections of assembled parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
- Create and maintain discrepancy “hit lists” identifying defects, errors, and process gaps
- Partner with the Senior Electrical Assembly Lead and department leadership to review discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to training effectiveness, assembly quality, and process standardization
- Reinforce proper use of tools, torque requirements, hardware identification, and assembly sequencing
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements
- Provide coaching and feedback to employees to improve skill development and performance
- Other duties as assigned
What You'll Have
- Strong knowledge of electrical assembly processes, tools, and best practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Strong training, coaching, and communication skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Ability to identify defects and analyze root causes
- Familiarity with inspection methods and quality control processes
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with production and leadership teams
- Proficiency with basic computer systems (Microsoft Office, training systems, etc.)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree or technical certification in manufacturing or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment required
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License (CO or reciprocal state)
- Prior experience in training, mentoring, or leading teams strongly preferred
- Experience with quality inspections and continuous improvement processes preferred
Physical requirements and work environment
- This position operates in an active manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
- The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Use of standard office equipment is necessary.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and reach into cabinets; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate large enclosures.
